My son has been day trained for quite a while. We decided to try night training and I just don't think he's ready. He goes to bed around 8:30 after sitting on the potty a few times to sqeeze out what little poop he has left. I got him up at 11:00 before I went to bed and by the time my husband got him at 6:00am he was soaked. But then he stayed dry until 8:00 when I got him up. I can't decide if it's worth setting an alarm to get up at 3:00 as well or just wait. Plus, we eat dinner around 6:00 which means he's having liquids until 6:30 or 7:00. Then at bed time I nurse him (though he usually tells me it's all gone since I nurse the younger one first) and many times he tells me he is thirsty. I don't know if I should ignore his thirst or not:(
Any thoughts?
If you are still breast feeding him at night, he's going to still need to pee overnight, plain and simple. You just have to decide if you want to keep breast feeding him or not and if you do keep bfing, you will have to decide whether or not you want to get up at night with him to get him to go pee. More than likely he'd be able to night train if you stopped giving him liquid right before bed. But you have to figure out what you want to do.
I wish he'd wake up and go to the bathroom! lol
Or I wish that I'd done EC because my friends who did could nurse at night and their kids still went through the night without the potty by a year or 18 months.
Thanks:)

A lot of kids just sleep too hard to wake up in the night to go. They sleep too hard and don't feel the "need to go" feelings. That's why it's important for them to TRAIN to sleep lighter (with you waking him up in the night) so that he will be able to wake himself up, especially if you are going to keep breastfeeding him.
ok, I hadn't thought of that! So hopefully he'll start waking up on his own? He's had 3 dry nights in the past 9 days and he did go in his little blue pot in his room at some point before I got to him this morning! I don't know if it was over night or just while he was waiting for me to come to his room this morning. Thanks for your insight:)

I can't guarantee that your son will start waking on his own but I know when I did night training with my son, at some point I noticed he was easier to wake up when I went in to get him up that last time right before I went to bed. Then after a little while he was actually stirring before I even go to him so it seemed to make things easier for him. Hopefully your son will show the same progress. :-)
