my daughter is 2 years and 7 months old and has been pee trained since August. She never has pee accidents and is mostly dry at night time. She spent about a week pooping in the potty no problem.  The first few times was me catching her in the act and rushing her to finish in the potty or her saying she has to poop and taking her to the potty and making her sit there til she did it. Then she stopped. She has stopped pooping on the potty all together. She'll say she has to poop and I will get her on the potty but she will scream and cry and flip out and will not poop, and then will hold it until she is totally away from me and then will poop. She wont tell me when she poops. She waits til I smell her or she will try and go clean herself up. I have no idea why she stopped pooping on the potty and I have no idea as to how to get her back to pooping on the potty. I don't think she's old enough for the poop jail (i've been lurking for a few days to see if I can glean some ideas). She knows when she has to poop, and her poop isn't hard, in fact it is very mushy (sorry TMI). Should I take her to the doctor to see if she is constipated even with the mushy poop?

Thanks

Yeah, you are right about the poop jail.  She's not old enough and hasn't been pee trained long enough to do the poop jail. :-)

Have you been giving her privacy when you put her on the toilet when you know she needs to go poop?

Were you giving rewards when she was pooping on the toilet?

If she's regularly pooping then she's not constipated.  Especially if the poop is soft.

She was getting 2 m&m's and 2 stickers when she pooped. When she did it in public we immediately bought her a new (cheap 100 store toy). And her sister would jump and clap and get insanely excited every time she pooped or peed on the potty, but I think that kind of scared her.  I can't leave her alone in the bathroom. If I do she will play in the toilet, even while peeing. She only poops a little bit in her pull up (she waits til her night time pull up to poop) and it isn't every day anymore. She used to poop every day in the morning and then again at night before bed before she stopped pooping on the potty.

You can stand right outside the door and see thru the crack in the door or stand where you can see her but she can't see you.  If she starts playing you step in and discipline her for the behavior and then step back out.

You may need to find something else to reward her with.  They have jewelry making kits for kids and if you want you can give her a bead for each time she goes and once she gets enough to make a piece of jewelry she gets to wear it.  But if she poops on herself, she has to earn it back.
