Hello all! i am new to Cafemom, in hope to find some answers and suggestions!
I have a 5 yr old son, who has been "daytime" potty trained since he was 3. My son Goes all day with out any accidents. But night time is a whole diffrent story. Every morning he wakes up wet. So i have no choice but to put a pull up on him at night now. I've tried everything to try to keep him dry at night. and nothing works.
Theres also a big kicker to this whole night time deal. My Son WILL NOT poop in the potty. Its another reason i have to have a pull up on him at night, cause he will hold it in for 2 weeks at a time(he was even in the hospital for 2 days when he was 4 because he was so backed up.). He will not go in his underware and or even when hes awake and has his pull up on. And if he does poop its in his sleep.
I have taken my son to the doctor about it and he said its cause my son was a premie and it will happen when it happens. But my sons 5, will be 6 in April. and to me enough is enough. Any suggestions would be very helpful!
thank you!

My 6 year just stopped her night time wetting. She still will have an accident occasionally, but it isn't even every week. We've only been pull up free for about 2 months with her. She made the descion she was ready to go without. She was so scared she'd wake up wet that she would get up 5 to 7 times before she fell asleep to go potty just to be sure. She only ever peed that first time, but to her it was reassurance. It worked for her. She now only pees right before she lays down. The nights she does have accidents she usually had a nightmare or forgot to go pee before bed. We spent a lot of time reassuring her and encouraging her to try it. Telling her that she is abig kid and she's ready to go without pull ups.
As for the poop thing, I don't know. My second daughter who is 2.5 wont poop in the potty.
There's a post at the top of the forum that tells how to night train. That's a great place to start.
As for poop, there's a forum in this group for poop issues. You may want to read a few posts there for information on suggestions for how to get the poop taken care of. I'd recommend the top post in that group and look for the information on Poop Jail.
