So frusturated!!
I need help....
My 3year old DS, who is just a tad strong willed to put it nicely will not poop in the potty!
He has no problem peeing in the potty what so ever he is even I would say 95% nighttrained in that area also. He just refuses to tell me or to go poop in the potty!!
To answer the obvious questions, No he is not constipated and No he is not afraid of the potty and/or the noises it makes. About half the time he will tell me after he goes in his pants.
I have tried offering rewards like we did with #1 we had a little chart for each time he went and he got some sort of treat eachtime. This does not work, we've even offered big things like ice cream and trips to the toy store.. yes bribary! I have also tried putting him in the shower afterward to hose him off thinking it wouldn't be a reward to have me change him. (Read it on here)
I have no clue how to get him to go... :(
PLEASE HELP!!!!!
Oh and no he doesn't turn red in the face or hide so its not a matter of just putting him on the potty when I see him start.
Did you use a lukewarm/cold shower or just a regular shower to clean him up?
How long has he been fully day trained for pee?
When will he be 4?
Have you tried making him wash out his own poopy underwear?
Used lukewarm/cold water to rinse him off yes... didnt really bother him LOL now if it was his hair he would cry lol He hates his hair washed...
Washing out the underwear didnt work either, well because he loves to clean things in the sink he just thought it was fun. There was no gross factor or punishment for him in that at all.
He just turned 3 in october, hes been fully pee potty trained for months now. No accidents (knock on wood) since the first month we started.
I know I still have some time to get him the rest of the way there, I just cant figure out how to do so!
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one with this problem! If I figure out something that works I will let you know!

Have you looked at poop jail yet?
OMG I just went thru the same problem with my son. He is about to be 4 and just this summer he was poopy potty trained. I paid attention when he had to "we call it making a big stink" if it was after supper I would sit him on the potty untill he went. Yes it was kind of demanding of me but it worked. Also after a few times he liked having the door closed for privacy like the rest of us.

What is Poop Jail?? I need to know!!
Ok you have no idea how glad I am to know other kids have been as difficult as my DS on this subject! I know its silly to think no other ever has but all I ever hear is just that it just takes a little longer sometimes.. BAHHH!!!
Look at the list of posts in this forum and the top one is titled Poop Training or something like that. Click on it and there's a link to the information on Poop Jail. Let me know if you have questions.

wow poop jail sounds really drastic... if it comes to that i suppose i will have to try it though.
we are currently trying story time in the bathroom while he sits on the potty.. its worked twice now... after like 5 books
Poop jail is for people that have had it with dealing with poop and don't know what else to do. It's sort of a last resort type thing.
Just be careful with having him sit too long on the toilet. It can cause hemorrhoids.
