I started trying potty training again with my 2.5 year old at the beginning of the week. I decided to take a break after my last post because I was simply too stressed out between getting ready to lose my job and getting ready to move, and could not handle another stressor. Anyway, we have now moved and I felt like I could continue this without feeling like I was going to have a major mental breakdown lol
Ok, so we started on Sunday. I am hoping this will be day 4 of no pee accidents. Pooping is not going to hot... he tells me when he needs to poop but then he starts pooping and says owie ma and stops. So, he's been going poop in his diaper at nap and sometimes in the morning before he lets me know he's awake. He has only had 1 poop accident in his undies. (He wears underwear all day, with the exception of nap and at bedtime... diaper comes off immediately after I get him out of his crib) I'm not so much worried about the poop right now so moving on lol
I think the only way I'm going to break the pooping in the diaper is to get him nap and bedtime trained so he is not able to poop in a diaper as he will be in underwear all the time. I am pretty hesitant to do this because he is a super soaker when he sleeps, plus the fact that he is a very deep sleeper--- I'm not sure if I'm jumping the gun on this. I very frequently have to change his mattress pad and sheets in the morning (overnight diapers do no difference). He doesn't drink very much liquid before bed.... aside from getting a glass of milk at supper and a drink of water before bed, so its not like I'm watering him down before bed. He's just always been a night pee-er. I know for nighttime training I will have to convert his crib to a toddler bed. I haven't yet because we moved at the beginning of the month and I wanted his new room to feel comfortable and safe to him.
So do you think this is possible to do or should I wait for a little longer and focus on the poop for now? Tips/advice?
I'd go ahead and keep him in underwear all the time during the day, even at naps. The night training can wait (unless he starts holding his pee/poop all day until the pull up/diaper goes on). That would be the only reason I'd say not to hold off on nighttime training.
I'm going to move this post to the night training forum. There's a great post at the top about how to night train for when you get ready to do that. :-)
Poop almost always comes after pee success. Don't stress too much about it just yet.
