First day of he 3 day method...Update 11/04

Okay, here it goes.  Today was more of my first "half day" of my 3.5 day method.  I had to go to a mommy baby art class this morning and didn't want to have to clean up any messes in the art room.

So we got home about noon, I put her down for a nap in a pull-ups.  When she woke up we went potty and then I made a huge deal out of the "big girl undies".  Turned off my phone, TV, and the Internet and played (stalked) her.  She started to go pee, I rushed her to the bathroom and she went pee in the potty!  She stopped peeing and there was only a little spot on the floor!

Later on she farted and I automatically rushed her to the potty.  She went!  Then when she was eating in her high chair later and peed and just sat in it (I couldn't see because of the tray).  I told her it was all right.  After bath time I put her to bed, checked on her 30 minutes later.  She had peed in her sleep.

So far we stand at 3 accidents, and 2 success....hopefully it goes better tomorrow.

 Day 2:

After changing the sheets 4 times last night and not hardly getting any sleep I gave in and did pull-ups over night.

During the day she did a little better, she told me she had to potty 3 times and had 2 accidents.  I didn't think that that was too shabby.  One of the times that she had the accident she was eating in her chair and didn't tell me.

I think that I'm just going to put her in a pull-up when we're eating.  Anyways, hoping that tomorrow goes even better.

 Day 3 (Or I guess technically 2.5)

Today was better than yesterday.  2  sorta accidents.  She started to pee then said "Uh-oh Mommy", so we rushed to the potty.  She stopped peeing and finished in the potty each time.

She peed through her undies twice while eating lunch.  Had her sitting in her rocking chair without a cushion.  Less laundry that way.

I had to go to the restroom twice while she was awake, so I took her with me and sat her on the potty.  Each time she went and I made a HUGE deal about it.

During the day I would ask her if she had to potty and each time she would tell me no.  I don't know how to get her to ask to go to the potty.  I'm at a loss.

 Last day

Tomorrow I have to go back to work...don't want to, but here's how she did today.

She finally started saying "Potty Momma!  Hurry!"  I'm so happy! Honestly, she still had trouble with meal times and naps.  I didn't put her in pull-ups for meal times (and now I'm washing her high chair cover for the third time today).  I would ask her if she needed to go, she would tell me no.  I had to go so I took her in there with me and put her on the potty and she went every time, but still told me she didn't have to go before hand.

I'm going to send her to daycare tomorrow in "big girl undies".  With pull-ups for meals and naps.  I just hope that my day care provider doesn't put her back in diapers.

  Update:

Her first day back at day care was AWESOME!  She didn't have any accidents!  I'm so excited.  She went home with her daddy and peed within 5 minutes though.  :(  I told him if he really thinks that she needs to go to the bathroom take her and sit in there with her.\

It kind of upset me that I got home and she was in pull-ups.  She was in our bed watching TV with DH.  He said that she acted like she wasn't feeling well so he put her in pull-ups.  I put her right back in her "big-girl-undies" and started playing with her.  I had to use the restroom so I asked if she needed to.  She said "No momma.", we I took her in there with me so that I could watch her.

As soon as I sat her down on her potty and got myself seated she started going.  I just need to get her to tell me that she needs to go.  She will usually, but situations where I take her in there with me and then she goes, after telling me that she didn't have to.....I just don't know what to do about that.

Okay, so I think I might do pull-ups during the night. At least until she gets the hang of going totally by herself. I've changed sheets 4 times tonight. It's just disrupting her sleep and mine, and she's become VERY fussy and is starting to resist the potty at night.

I waited until my son was fully day trained about a month before I did night training and by then, training overnight was a non-issue.  He did great. :-)

The only concern that may arise with waiting to night train is that some kids learn really quickly that a pull up/diaper comes at night and they learn to hold it all day long and then flood out the pull up/diaper at bedtime.  So, watch for that and if she starts not going pee all day and flooding out the pull up/diaper you may have to switch to training all the time.

Keep us posted on how it goes! :-)

What am I doing wrong? Everytime she eats she goes potty and doesn't tell me. The only times that she has gone on the potty are because I had to potty too so I brought her in with me. I feel like a failure right about now.

Did you put her in pull ups when eating and then she's peeing in the pull ups or did you post the update in the original post after you posted this update?

If she's peeing when eating she's being distracted with eating and so she might just not be fully in tune with the 'need to go pee' feeling yet.  Don't be so hard on yourself.

She was peeing through her undies while eating, so I decided to put her in pull-ups while eating (I had put her high chair cover through the wash 3 times.

You've got to tell her as you are taking her when she starts peeing that it's her responsibility to let you know when she needs to go.

I wouldn't put her in a pull up during the day at all. It's sending mixed messages that it's ok to pee in your pants sometimes and sometimes it's not ok. Stick with the underwear.  She'll learn to stop it and not flood out.  It just takes a little bit for them to realize they CAN stop it. :-)

I do tell her I'm taking her, as soon as she starts and I see it.  I always, make a big deal saying "Hurry!  Hurry!  Potty!  Potty!"  and I haven't put her in pullups at all except for naps and bed time.  She does stop as soon as I see it and do the while potty run routine.

Talk to your daycare provider and let them know that you do not want your child in pull ups if at all possible.  Take extra changes of clothes and underwear and make it clear that pull ups are NOT acceptable.
