Back in pullups for nap after a year???

My youngest DD is 3 1/2.  She was not hard at all to potty train.  She decided one day when she was about 2 that she was interested and just started going on her own.  I'm sure seeing her big sister helped.  Anyway, when she was about 2 1/2, she pt'd on her own and was doing great.   We let her wear a pullup the first couple weeks, but she didn't need them so we went to just underwear.  Then she started staying dry overnight so we went to just undies at night.  This was about a year ago.  Over the last 6 months, she's slowly started wetting the bed, first once every few weeks, then once a week, then a couple times a week, so we went back to pullups at night.  She soaks a pullup pretty much every night.  Also, she changed from the toddler (2 yr old) classroom to the preschool (3-5 yr old) around her 3rd birthday (August) and after a couple months she started having naptime accidents again.  Like the nighttime issues, first it was every couple weeks, then twice a week, progressively to almost every day now.  The last two weeks, her teachers and I have decided to put her back in pullups because she was always having to change and kept running out of extra clothes.

Long story short, I'm wondering if it's time to pay a visit to the pediatrician.  She's had some life changes, her dad is in the military and he's been out of town since January 2nd, and before that he had been gone from mid-November to mid-December, and was only home 3 weeks before leaving again.  The nighttime issues started long before his being out of town, so I don't know if it's related.  With the naptime wetting, her normal teacher went out for several weeks with an injury, and the sub was...well, not my favorite.  She was much less gentle, patient and loving with the kids.  Instead, she was bossy, and much less warm and fuzzy.  The old teacher is back, but we still have the issue with the wetting every day.  I am very frustrated.  I've been taking the "she'll get it when she's ready"  stance but lately I am starting to wonder.  After putting her back in pullups these last two weeks, she stayed dry yesterday and the day before but was again soaked today, to the point that her pullup overflowed and her clothes and cot were soaked.  Plus, she went potty right before nap, and woke up after wetting herself and peed some more in the potty.

Should I continue to wait it out, or do you think it's time to get the doctor involved??

Have you asked her about the wetting herself?

Are you waking her up to go potty right before you go to bed at night? If not, that's where I'd start.

I've tried taking her to the potty when I go to bed, but I don't go to bed much later than her.  She's in bed by 8, and I am in bed between 9 and 10 because I get up really early.  It didn't help when i did try that.  After talking with DH (who is a medical student and works with drs every day), we've decided to give her more time and that it's probably due to all the changes with her classroom, routine and DH being out of town for school rotations.  She had a dry pullup at naptime 3 days this week, so that's progress!!  Putting her back in the pullups at nap, which I was avoiding, actually seems to be helping.

Sounds like a stressful time for her.  I don't know what I'd do in your situation.  Sounds like a little time in pull ups might reduce stress for everyone and then maybe move to underwear again.  Good luck!
