Poop jail, as seen in the group near the top, was just what we needed!  After several failed attempts of trying to get the poop in the potty, I just couldn't take it anymore.  The peeing was fine, almost 100%.  But the poop was another story.  He would sit there forever and when you let him off, 5 minutes later he would poop.  Well Poop Jail worked in a week.  If you can deal with the first 3-5 days of tantrums then your good.  We now have a sucessful pooping in the toilet child!  Try it for yourself if you know that your child has control over their bowels.  BE CONSISTANT!  Tell me your success story.

It worked for us too!  The first day I made him stay in the bathroom for about 2 hours but he FINALLY went!  Then after that it was like 15 minutes at the most.  Now he goes consistently!

I'm new to the support group.  Your post was interesting to me because it sounds like something I'm going through with my daughter.  Can you explain to me the idea of Poop jail?  I think I may need to try it.  My daughter is 3 1/2 years old going to be 4 in August.  She has been pee trained for almost 1 year and she refuses to poop in the potty.  When she needs to go poop she will ask for a diaper.  I've tried everything...sticker charts, rewards, brides.  Should I get rid of the diapers and have her cry & have temper tantrums.  I'm just not sure what to do. If you have any advice, please let me know.

My Daughter is 2 and very active.  I would be afraid that she would end up pooping on the rug, if I left her to it by herself.  Any experiences with something along those lines?

Take the rug out and if she does poop in the floor, make her clean it up.

However, the poop jail process is a last resort when you have tried everything else under the sun and nothing else seems to work.

It really works!!  I had tried everything to get my son to go on the potty.  He hates poop jail and goes almost immediately!  Thanks cafemommas for great advice (as usual)!!!

Congrats!!!!!!  I tried poop jail after we had gotten rid of the diapers for a few days and he STILL wouldn't poop.  I put him in the bathroom and he tried getting out 3 times and I just made him stay in there and he pooped!

What do you do after to first BM?  I guess what I am getting at is how often to we put our son back in Jail?!  I am willing to try anything at this point but I want to make sure I have it all down before I try it.

Thankfully,Andrew taught himself to poopie in the potty! we didn't have to teach him..learned all by himself.we are making sure to be consistent when it comes to putting him on the potty.
