After a very disappointing yesterday finding out the convertable car seat that was purchased for us as a gift 5 months ago does not fit in my truck.. unless the front seat passanger doesn't have legs. We are not able to return the seat no box (we got rid of it to save space) and no receipt. Sad

So after doing TONS of research yesterday I found that britax car seats should fit in my truck perfectly. I am trying to choose between two and was wondering if any other mommy's have the seats and what they think.

I am trying to choose between the britax boulevard and decathlon. They seem about the same except the boulevard has an adjustable head restraint and the decathlon has multiple buckle positions.

I have an 04 mercury mountaineer... if anyone else has one let me know what seat you use in yours.

  • What seat do you currently have? How old is your child? Are you planning on ERF?

  • yes we are ERF my son is only 5 months old, but no longer fits in his infant seat he is a BIG BOY almost 20lbs.  We were giving an Alpha Omega as a gift and it doesn't fit in any of our vehicles

I have a personally HATE of that kind of seat anyways...not worth the money, sucks someone spend good moeny on it...sell it on craiglist to use some of the moeny to buy a different seat.

Personally I would go with a Myride 65, a Truefit, or a Radian over a Britax right now....just my thing because I'm not a huge Britax fan, I do own a Decathlon I got from a friend, but for now its a spare seat.

the AOE is hard to install RFing, but if you take it to a tech they may be able to get it to fit in your vehicle.  Often removing the base works.

  • Honestly I'd probably get a True Fit with the anti-rebound bar (signiture series). I LOVE Britax seats, but for the money the True Fit may be easier to use.

If I had to choose between the 2 I'd probably get the BV. I have a Decathlon, and I've liked it, but I never used it RFing (had another seat that expired and replaced it with the DC). The ones I have installed and adjusted RFing I found it harder to get the harness tight. Just the way the adjuster is. The adjuster is different on the BV. But if you think your son might be an escape artist I wouldn't go that route! Its pretty easy to loosen the harness if he gets ahold of the strap.

  • I have a Boulevard CS (Click 'n Safe, stay away from those, they're not worth the extra money) and it doesn't fit right in my car but personally I love it. If it fit and my son wasn't so wide I'd be using it. The side impact protection and the no rethread harness are some great features. The only con is that there are no extra buckle positions, so your little man might get "squished" with the buckle.
