I've responded to many car seat posts explaining that an expired seat is dangerous to use and should not be sold and I've responded to buyers wanting to buy a used seat and explained why that can be dangerous and offered alternatives to find a safe new seat but I'm sick of the rude emails back saying to mind my business and such.  I've only received a hand full of these back so it isn't that bad but it really sucks when it happens.  A mom on CL was looking for a used seat for her new baby due next month and first congratulated her on her new baby and then explained how using a used seat can be dangerous.  I let her know that the Scenera is very cheap and is safer to use than any used car seat and that it fits newborns very well.  She responded back saying to mind my business and that she has two other boys and isn't ignorant blah blah blah.  She said that she didn't appreciate my emailing her and got really nasty.  Sometimes I wonder why I even bother.  She could have just "thank you" and left it at that.  The other remarks weren't necessary.  GAH I hate ppl like that.  Sorry...had to vent

  • I've gotten emails like that. If I were you, I'd respond with "Well, I don't know about you but I sure as hell wouldn't trust a stranger with my kid's life!" But that's just me. I can get just as nasty if they want to be rude to me, but I try to keep it civil. Sometimes, though.. You just wanna smack them!

  • ah don't feel bad. some people just don't want to listen or learn anything or admit that they could be doing anything wrong. Keep doing what you are doing. It is worth it for the few people that will listen.

  • I totally understand!  I just emailed a CL member who is trying to sell a seat from 2003.  I informed the seller that the seat is expired and asked that they do not allow anyone to use the seat as it could fail in even a minor accident, and the be-otch told me to mind my own!  What the hell is wrong with these people?!?  Do they really feel it is worth the $10 or $25 they'll get for the seat to allow a child's life to be put in danger?  Some people really suck!
