My daughter Madelyn who is now 2 years old is doing awesome. She has only had the one flare up. She did get a  join injection about a year ago and ever since then everything has been going awesome. She is technically in clinical remission with medicine. If everything keeps going this way for another 4 months we get to take her off of her medicine. She seems to be a normal 2 year old. The only bad thing she has right now is due to the injection which has caused a knot by her knee. I can't tell if it has gone down, the doctor is really only slightly hopeful that it will but since the knot doesn't seem to bother her they won't do anything about it. (not that I know there is anything they will or can do about it). Well thank you all for everything you have given us. Thank you so much for all your stories and advice. It has helped me so much with dealing with her JIA. Thanks again.

I'm so happy for Madelyn--and for you! As a first attack on my daughter's JA, she received steroid injections. We had no adverse effects in her wrists, but she has to large areas of muscle atrophy right at her ankles. Our rheumatologist does not expect it to get better. But Sadie doesn't mind it.

So I think, as long as Madelyn isn't bothered by it, it's a pretty good trade-off.

have a great summer!

oops, I meant "two large areas of muscle atrophy."  Excuse my carelessness.
