My daughter has lost all her hair.  At first I had thought that her thyroid is abnormal again and so I had her tested and everything came out fine.  So we spent another 4 weeks testing and retesting her blood o just make sure we haven't missed anything.  Finally I took her to a Derm Dr.  and with one look he says Alopecia Areata Ophalisis.  He says that is is common with children with an autoammune disorder to also have Alopecia.  So now we are on the list for locks of love to recieve a wig for her.  But thankfully she took this all with a smile and it hasn't affected her badly.  She wears a skull cap in public and what hair that she still has, just a patch about the size of a quarter she has me shave it off so that it doesn't itch.  So if anyone has noticed with your beautiful babies that they are loosing hair more than normal, and the hair isn't growing back, get it checked out.  It could be the meds, thyroid or Alopecia.  We tryed the meds offered, nothing worked.  This has been a 9 month battle.

The Dr. offered a topical cream to rub on the scalp, didn't work.
Pills to take for 6 weeks, Predisone, didn't work.
They wanted to inject her scalp with steriods over 1000 times.  They would inject just under the skin and the procedure would last an hour a day for 5 days.  I said NO!  Her and I didn't want to subject her to that pain.  She is in enough when her JRA flares.

Smile and let the world know you're up to no good.

This is one of those things that just breaks my heart.   I thank God every day that JRA isn't terminal.  I thank God every day that it isn't worse.  And I thank him for blessing me with my children and other loved ones.  But as blessed as I feel it's something like that... if my little girl's hair fell out that would just make me cry.  I know it's superficial, I know it's not  "needed", but nonetheless that would really break my heart.   "My girl has this long, slightly curly blonde hair that goes almost to her bumbum now, and it still has that baby fine quality."  I am so sorry that you have to endure this, that SHE has to endure this.  I'm glad to hear that she's taking it so well, but geez, that is hard.

I will pray for a miracle for you, and for your daughter.  God bless you.  I hope she has a much easier time from now on.  What a trooper!
