My husband and are wanting to another child. If Brianna has JRA does that that mean our other children will to?

I suppose it's a possibility, but only that.

As far as our situation goes, nobody in either my or my husband's family has RA or JRA except for our 2nd daughter. However it seems my side of the family has a predisposition to auto-immune diseases. My father has MS, my grandfather had Krohn's disease, my cousin has Juvenile Diabetes.

I was told by Drs that this predisposition is there and probably a viral infection my daughter had sparked the JRA (which is similar to what my cousin was told about her JD). So it seems a little random. If she hadn't gotten that particular virus on that particular day, she might not have JRA today.

Yes, I agree.  Our daughter Lillienne is a twin, and her twin sister doesn't have it, nor does their older sister.

Ok, thanks, that helps for sure. i don't know how I would feel about having another  child if I KNEW they would have JRA. We would probably take another root like adoption, but even then there is no guarantees. Well, thanks for your replies!

no. We just came back today from the specialist and i was diagnoised with it when i was 10. She gave me paper work stating it is not in any way shape or form hereditary. I thought it was since i had it. Don't worry. if you want me to send you the paper work i can.

My 2nd son has it and not my first.  It doesn't seem to run in our family either.  I did read that something can trigger it and he did have RSV as an infant.  So there is a good chance your 2nd child won't have it unless it runs in the family..................

We were told that it is extremely rare to find in siblings.  It almost never happens, but it has.

I have 5 children.  My 4th son, age 6, is the only one with arthritis.

It is very possible. BOTH my step daughters have it. It runs on there mom's side of the family. The girls ages are 13 and 15. The 15 year old has it worse then the 13.  We don't know if something triggered it or not that caused both girls to flare up over this past year. This is all new to us.
