Sucess Stories?

My husband and I are trying to have a baby.  When I was first diagnosed with PCOS, I was immediately put on 2000mg's of metformin.  It's helped me shed almost 80 pounds, and my 100 day cycles have now shrunk down to 33 days.  Yay!!  However,  my ovulation has still not returned.  My doctor was pretty surprised I was able to lose that much weight without any ovulation being triggered.  Hubby and I really want a baby, so we've moved on to the next step, which is fertility drugs (I don't think we'll be going any further than clomid.)  I've started my first round of clomid this week (50mg's).  Has anyone who is trying to conceive on the metformin clomid combination had success?  How long did it take?

Never taken the combo.  I've gotten pregnant both times on just metformin alone.  One took less than 30 days to conceive and this one other took less than 60 days.  Although one of my friends has had no success on taking the combo.  I think she is on her 3rd or 4th round.  Yet others have had great success on teh combo.  It just depends on how your body responds!

GL and hope you have a BFP in your future!

For my PCOS the metformin alone didn't help much and the clomid didn't work for me either, I had to do IUI with injectable medicine to get aBFP, I hope that you are one of the ones that metformin helps GL

I got pregnant on metformin and clomid. I now have a happy 17.5 month old son!  My met was only at 1000mg and clomid was at 50mg. This time I am with a new doctor who specializes in PCOS (and he is an obgyn, not an re which surprised me) and I am on like 1700mg met and will be starting clomid this month. I dunno what dosage I'll start with yet. But I conceived my son on our 2nd round of treatments. We were very lucky. But the month we got pregnant with my son my husband and I just decided to not worry about it and if it didn't happen that month I was going to a fertility center so we bd'd like everyday and just didn't care about getting pregnant and popped up pregnant. As hard as it is, relaxing really helps. Something I hope to keep in mind this next time of TTC. GL! And how did your first round go?

So no luck.  Hubby and I have pretty much given up.  I did 5 rounds of clomid, we bd'd so much that we're almost sick of having sex at this point, and I'm still on my metformin.  I just don't understand what the problem is.  For the longest time, my doctors thought that because my insulin was too high due to my PCOS, once we got that under control, that would in turn restore my ovulation and I'd be able to conceive.  My ovulation has still not returned, even though my weight contiues to drop, my insulin has been in the normal range for almost a year now, even the cysts on my ovaries are almost gone.  And yet still nothing.  The only thing that seems to have "improved" if you can use that word to describe it are my period symptoms haha.  They are much stronger than ever before, and I do menstrate like clockwork now.  But if all this is doing nothing but making me bleed every month and making my breasts so sore I can't wear bras a week out of every month, I'd almost rather go back to being irregular.  At least then I wasn't in so much breast pain.
