I was diagnosed today. I am getting put on Metformin and not sure what else. What should I expect from Metformin? Are there bad side effects? Is this going to help me lose all the weight I keep gaining and gaining? And my acne? Sorry I have so many questions, I am just feeling overwhelmed and scared.

don't be scared. the metformin will help to regulate your periods. when you first start on metformin it can upset your belly. it will usually stop after a few days, maybe a week. don't stop taking it though, i promise the symptoms will subside. it can help with your acne and weight loss as you get regulated, but not always. just continue to work out and eat healthy. the reason they put you on metformin is because people with PCOS usually have insulin resistance which can then lead to diabetes if left untreated. what i did was start a diet similar to one that a person with diabetes does. cut down on the sweets and the carbs (which are converted to sugars by the body) f you are trying to get pregnant, the metformin can help. sometimes just the introduction of the metformin helps to regulate your body. once i started on metformin, my periods were regulated in about 3 months on time 30 days apart. i never had that in my whole life. i now have a 3 month old baby which we tried to conceive for 4 years. after multiple fertility specialists and treatments, metformin is what did the trick i think. please don't feel overwhelmed or scared. you can and will survive this. it is alot at first, but it will be ok.

Thank you so much for your reply, that makes me feel not so overwhelmed and anxious. Do you have recipes and ideas for snacks and stuff that you can PM me? My husband and I aren't trying yet but would like to soon, I am so scared though of having to go through infertility again. I would really like to get this under control first. Thank you so much again for replying to me, I appreciate it SO much!! :)
