Hey Ladies
I would like to get an update on everyone to see how everyone is doing currently. If you are pregnant, or trying to get pregnant or just simply trying to maintain your PCOS.

Heres an update on me.  I have a 28 month old girl and a 4 week old little boy.  With both children I took metformin but for the 1st one I also took clomid.  Both times I lost 30lbs before becoming pregnant and the 2nd pregnancy I wasn't even trying. Not like the 1st one that was so heartbreaking month after month with negative pregnancy tests and no periods.  It took 3 LONG years to get my daughter and I am so very thankful. I am also thankful for my son (although we wasn't trying, we wasn't exactly not trying either and to get pregnant that easily with him is a blessing too)

So with that said I would like to know how everyone is. I know everyone here isn't TTC so just tell us how you are managing your pcos. And if you are trying what are you doing medication wise and how long have you been trying.

Good luck to everyone.

My name is Jennifer. I have 2 sks, a 13 y/o girl and an 8 y/o boy. I also am a foster mom to a 3 y/o little girl. I don't have any children of my own. My DH and I have ttc for 13 months and I have done 10 cycles of Clomid which did nothing for me. I went to my RE in January and he  started me on Femara which has been great. I haven't had any side effects with it and I am actually ovulating which is completely exciting. I am really hoping that this month is my month. Baby dust to all!!

Hello everyone my name is Nichelle and I am new to this group.  I was diagnosed with PCOS about eight years ago.  Before finding out, i was having to rely on medication to start my periods as well as stop them.  I had periods of 3 months or longer which had to be stopped with medication.  I would go almost a year with no periods.  It wasn't until I was married and ttc did I find out.  I at first thought that I was being punished.  I was depressed for a long time but knew that I could not give up.

I was 25 at the time .   I had several years of birth control pills which gave me periods but when I got off the pill my periods stopped.  When it was discovered that I was not regular or conceiving, I was referred to a fertility specialist.  When I met him, He looked at me  without  ever doing any test and diagnose me based on my appearance.  I am African American and based on my skin tone he was able to see that my neck was a darker than the rest of my skin.  He then look at my abdomen and saw that there was hair from my navel to my vaginal which turns out is not normal. He also noticed that I have dark patches on the inside of my thighs.  Acne and facial hair was also a factor.

Although I was glad to know why I was not regular I was devastated to learn that I was not ovulating.  He then started me on provera to ensure I have a period every month.  Once that was established I was then placed on clomid (50 mg) to see if  I would ovulate. Needless to say nothing was happening but at the same time something was pushing me to continue with whatever treatment I needed to pursue to reach my goal.  I kept every single appointment faithfully.  Then it finally happened after rounds of 50-100mg of clomid and no success, the decision was made to go up to 150 mg and that is when the magic happened, but it was five years later I must add.  I gave birth at 30 to a beautiful boy who is now five years old.

I thought that once I had a baby that it would be easier but unfortunately I was wrong. It seems as though I am back to square one, but like the first I am not giving up.  I am now doing treatments of glucophage which has surprisingly helped me to have periods for the past four months without provera.  I must also add that it has helped me to go from a size 20 down to a 16.  I have not been in a 16 since 1999.  This go round since I am now 35 I do 1900 mg of glucophage and will be incorporating clomid to increase my chances of conceiving.  Once  I have I will have to continue on the gluophage  throughout my pregnancy to lower the risk of gestational diabetes and miscarriage.  Wish me luck, and good luck to all who are ttc.

I'm Jessie, and we've been ttc since last summer for baby #2. Our son was two years in the making. I can't remember the first drug I was put on to regulate my cycle, but it did nothing for me anyway. I went on met for two months after and that was all it took.

This time we're not having the same success. I've been on met since October, steadily increasing my dosage (currently @ 1000mg) and I'm hoping this does the trick. I haven't lost any weight, and I actually think it went UP since Oct. grr

We're taking a couple of months off from actively trying to let the higher dosage settle in, so I can lose some weight, and to let my new insurance kick in (I paid through the nose for my son). Hopefully will begin trying again around May, maybe so late as July.

I've also cut out a lot of crap food from my diet (sniffle). Good-bye mini hershey bars! It's been nice knowing you Jolly Ranchers! Bon voyage Girl Scout cookies! Hello ... carrots.

Hello everyone!  My name is Val and I was diagnosed with PCOS about 2 1/2 years ago.  I have a little boy who will be 8 months next Monday (14th).  Every time I look at him, I'm reminded how much of a miracle he is.  I tried metformin, clomid, the combination of the two for 7 months to no avail.  My husband and I ended up at a fertility clinic and under went 2 IUI cycles before becoming pregnant.  I had to have an emergency c-section because Braden's heart rate kept plummeting.  Because of the c-section, the doctor told me I had to 'technically' wait a year before trying for another baby.  He did give me the go ahead to start trying when Braden was 8 months old, which is THIS MONTH!  So, my hubby and I are going to try ourselves for a few months, then in August, when Braden turns 1, if we aren't pregnant, we are going back to the clinic for #2.  Wish us luck!

In the mean time, I'm working on watching what I eat and managing my weight.

my name is Suzie.  I was diagnosed with
PCOS about 4 years ago now.  my husband and i will be married one year next month.  I gotta tell you i never really cared about the diagnosis of PCOS until i realized how difficult it would be to have children.  i always thought that when i was ready, it would happen.  We have been TTC #1 for a while now.  I have been to specialists and had every test known to man.  i'm just tired now and a little depressed and frustrated. i have been on metformin for about 4 years.  my new MD just increased my dose to 1500mg.  i've had many cycles of Clomid.  i've had a Letrozole trial and some HCG shots.  i give up!.  and do you believe that all of our tests came back normal?!!!  Sometimes i wish something showed up on the tests because then at least we'd have something to fix.  well that's my story.  Good luck to all of you.

I am Pam.  I was diagnosed about 4 years ago - about 15 months after DH and I got married.  I had been on Depo injections as over the years I have had to change pills because they did not seem to ease the pain as much after so long.  My OBGYN at the time did not think much of it other than my body was adapting to the pills.  So after a year of TTC with DH (I was 35 at the time) my GYN found the PCOS.  We were put on clomid after this and after several months and no luck getting pregnant, we changed over to Met and then I ended up pregnant.  My little girl was born a month early, but still weighed in at 8.8lbs.  My BP was a problem as well.  I had to have an emergency c-section as she did not want to move from the position she had been in for so long.  Now, with my age creeping on up there, we have decided if we were going to have another we needed to try hard before I got to the point I would not be able to keep up with a baby.  His 2 children from a previous marriage live with us and my SD helps out a good bit now.
I have not been able to lose any weight.  I gained up to where I am now, and no matter what I do or do not do, I cannot lose from where I am.  I am now where I was when I got pregnant - which was also the same thing I weighed when I left the hospital after having my baby.  My SD sees an endocrinologist next week and I am thinking about talking to the dr myself to see if I need to make an appointment.  I do not take anything on a regular basis for the PCOS.  But I have noticed that in the last few months my AF has been coming 5-7 days earlier than normal - which I have been pretty normal at 28 days.  My problem is with one ovary - the other seems to work ok, or should I say it seems to be overworked (lol).

Hello,
My Name is Evonne, and I was Diagnosed with pocos over 9 years ago,,when I tried for 7 years to get pregnant!! I of course~ got preganant with my 1st child when I was only 17yrs old from getting on Birth Control,,& always forgetting to take them every~ day I guess. From the time I was 13yrs old I would only have periods every 3-4 months. And than when I was diagnosed with pocos, I got on Metformin & Clomid for 3 months & that seemed to have done the trick. With all~ of my Children, I had to get on Metformin & Clomid to get pregnant. I have 5 Children all together, so there IS hope for those of you that have tried for years,,& just getting on Metformin!! Of course I was on Metformin for 2 years before getting pregnant with my last child. So I still cannot~ get pregnant by myself,,I have~ to be on Clomid for 3 months in order to even get pregnant. I am 34 years old. And I did have my First 2 Miscarriages with my 5th child. And so after the third attempt of trying to get pregnant,,my doctor made me stay on the Metformin for my first 12 weeks of pregnancy to see if that would help, & obviously it must have...because I stayed prengant this time, & had a healthy baby girl. She is now 12 months old, & of course I am already craving~ a baby again!! I KNOW~ I'm crazy~!! lol! But I gained soooooooooooo much weight with her,,that it just about makes me SICk!! ALL~ the 60lbs of weight I had lost before the pregnancy,,it seems I gained every~ single ounce of it back!! Grrrrr! So NOW~ I am back to Round One,,& back on Metformin once again,,& trying~~ to get this weight off once~ again!! Ugg!! I am still~ waiting to have my first period since I stopped Nursing her. I have been on Metformin for about a month now. Sooo hopefuly my body will kick back into gear soon!!

I would defiantly~ stay on the Metformin until your at least 12 weeks,,,but I read somewhere that it is safe to stay on it thru out the entire pregnancy,,,but for osme reason not~ safe while you are nursing.
