New here and asking a million questions!!

Hey ladies! I joined a few days ago and now I have time to post!

My name is Amber and I am 23 years old. My DR just informed me that he is pretty sure I have PCOS.

I actually went in because I was having another problem and when he looked at my history and did my physical and we talked about my cycles he told me this. He told me from the sounds of it I won't be able to conceive without the help of some sort of drugs. (hubby and I have been actively trying for 5 months, not using any protection for 10) When I told him that, he was really convinced. He gave me some options...he said drugs like clomid, or I can get on the bc pill for 6 months and then try to conceive.

I didn't like either of these options, and was talking to my friend about it and some others have told me about the herbal/natural remedies. So far I know I need to take vitex and use some progesterone cream and take like a multivitamin. I have been looking into the fertility blend herbal supplements. Has anyone used them? And if so, any luck? And I saw earlier about cinnamon helping with weight, does that really work?

Sorry about all the questions but it is all new to me!

BTW, I just found out my aunt has pcos, she tried the hardcore fertility drugs and it took her 6 years to conceive.

I also have PCOS, my hubs and I have been ttc for over 17 months now. I have been to te fertility doc and he says that along with the metformin and continued weight loss I could be preggo in a couple of months!
So, I am also taking cinnamon, that seems to help control blood sugars and suppress appetites a bit. But for PCOS, I think prescription meds are the best way to get PCOS under control!

I have PCOS and I take clomid to get pg. I only needed to take it once with pg #1 and twice with pg #3. My second pg I ended up m/c at 9.5 wks. My doc and I figure I m/c that one cause I didn't take clomid to get pg. That pg was an oops, I was on bc pills then. When I am not trying to have a baby I am on bc to keep my cycles regular. Otherwise that is about all I do. Some with PCOS do take other stuff, so hopefully they will help you a bit more than I did. GL!

You can try the natural remedies.  i've heard some people have some luck with them.  I have been ttc for over two years now with PCOS and none of the natural remedies worked.  the progesterone cream made me have 2 periods then it went right back to where I was.  My only bet at this point is prescriptions or possibly surgery.  But like you, I can't afford it all yet.  My hubby and are are saving up right now and should be able to do some more soon.  Good luck to you.  I hope the natural things work for you but try not to get your hopes up too far until you see long term results.  I was so excited when some of them worked for a couple of months but then absolutely crushed when they stopped working just as fast.

I have my periods, they are just crazy...lol 
Hopefully I will have luck with the natural stuff. There are people who don't have luck with the hardcore scripts either, so who knows....
And man they are expensive and most insurances dont cover them what-so-ever.

I was able to concieve our first baby after one round of fertility drugs nine years ago.  The second time I tried the drugs again and no luck.  I then tried all the herbal stuff, and still no luck.  We adopted our second baby from the delivery room four years ago.  We thought that would be it, but to our surprise in 2006,  I found out that I was three months preg., and we were not even trying anymore.  Our baby just turned one this month.  I know you hear it often, but don't ever give up.  It seem like such a long road, but you find your way eventually.  You just have to find which way works best for your body.  Some fertility clinics like the one I went to, can find ways for insurance to cover some of the cost.  They filed alot of my stuff under the pcos code, and mine payed for the whole cost.  Something to ask about.  The best of luck to all of you.

I am also 23 and have PCOS.  I found out I had it when I was 19.  I have been ttc #1 ever since then...with no luck!  I have tried it all and nothing.  I am just now about to start my clomid next month if not preggo this month. 

I have tried, fertility blend, fertil-aide, cinnamon, metformin and I am also now losing weight...I have family members with PCOS and after they lost like 20 pounds they were preggo!  SO...hope this helps and good luck!

My hubby and I have talked about adoption. I decided that if I go five years without conceiving, then I will look into adoption.  It's funny how you always get pregnant when you arent trying. There aren't even any fertility clinics around here. I will have to drive 2 hours (at least) if I decide to finally go see one. I know cause my aunt and my sil had to go. My sil had something done where they went in and cleaned her tubes out and she got preg. like right away. I am going to try the herbal thing for a few months and then go from there....
