Hello all I am new to all of this stuff. I have PCOS and was diagnosed in April. I am going to the reproduction specialist on Monday to get on medication so my husband and I can have a baby!! I have had all of the test done and finally my doctor said that I am ready for Clomid or some fertility medication. If any of you guys had any luck on meds, please let me know what you took!! Please send some baby dust my way also. Anything that helps is appreciated

I also have PCOS.  I was diagnosed this past June.  My reproductive endocronologist immediately started me on metformin 500mg and worked me up to 1500mg.  He also game me provera for 7 days to bring on my period.  Once AF came he put me on 50mg of clomid days 3-7.This helped me to ovulate for the first time ever.  If I did not ovulate on my own he would have given me atrigger shot of ovidrel once my follicles were big enough.  I am now 5 weeks pregnant.  Please keep in mind that everyone is different though.  Lot of baby dust to you!!!!Keep us posted.

I would suggest METFORMIN.

I have had PCOS for quite a number of years before I was diagnosed 6-1/2 years ago.

My OBGYN put me on 500mg of Metformin 2x/day after a surgical procedure in mid-July; however, it caused ovarian cysts to rupture last Saturday and I spend the evening and half the next morning in the ER.

I went to my mother's OBGYN on Monday for a 2nd opinion and she took me off of it becuase it is only prescribed for people with Type II Diabetes OR women with PCOS who are trying to conceive as it makes you ovulate more often.  We're not trying to conceive - we have 3 children here with us on Earth and 2 in Heaven - so she said I didn't need it AND if I continued to take it I would continue to have the ovarian cysts rupture.

Instead, she put me on Depo-Provera, which is a progesterone-based birth control injection which lasts for 3 months.  I'm low on Progesterone, so this is perfect for me and I've taken it before and did very well on it.  So, if I continue to do well I will take it long-term; if I don't get any better I will have a Hysterectomy in 3-6 months.

God bless you and I hope you conceive!

Thank you for the reply. I will let my doctor know what you did to see if she recommends that for me. Did you need to get the shot? Congrats on the baby!!!! Keep us posted on every detail!!!

So I went to the doctor and she persciped me the Clomid. She also said that she wanted me to use a method called timed intercorse. Basically when I start my AF I have to call her and she will do a ultra sound to see if my follicle have grown. Which from my understanding I dont want them to grow till around cycle day 10. I have my first ultra sound on cycle day 3. Then if all that is good I start the Clomid. Then if I start and I dont ovulate, then I have to get a jump start shot called Ovidrel. Its all so confussing!!! If anyone has heard of this please let me know!!!
