I was just curious if anyone else in the group is trying to go all organic or all natural with the foods they consume?  The more I read, the more changes I seem to make.  We are not completely there, yet - but, well on our way.  We have started raising our own chickens for eggs, switched to all organic on dairy.  All natural on all meats.  Any one else?  I was considering doing an organic co-op program for vegetables soon.  Wondering if any other experiences with the transition.....

I recently went to a doctor in Mexico(just over the border) and after blood tests put me on a diet that is No gluten, No dairy except for butter and plain yogurt, No sugar or sugar substitutes except for Aguave and Xylitol and my oncologist (breast cancer last year) said no soy.  My meat is supposed to be lean and not grain fed and no artificial additives, low in startches like potato and carrots.  So, mostly vegetarian but some meat and as much organic as possible.  If you can get the book, "Anti-Cancer" it would be excellent for you to read explaining why it would be good to eat this way.  I can have carrots if they are not cooked...they change when cooked.  Lots of distilled water and suppliments...and low stress.  I will try to remember to post some recipes when I find them.

Totally agree with you.  We are Hunters and since we went complete wild game, my life has changed so much. Hormones, chemicals and all those Anti Biotic and heaven knows WHAT else they feed our Cattle, Chicken and Pigs these days. Game is also LOW LOW fat.

Example:

Antelope 3 oz    128 cals  25g protein  Fat 2.3g  Sat Fat 0.8

Beef         3oz      160 cals 25g protein Fat 5.6g   Sat Fat 2.1

I also grow my own veggies and can each year.  Fruit is a tough one. I scrub my fruit. I mean scrub, but I know I am still getting some residue.

Not doing as good as you gals, but the meat we get is from our family farms. As for other things, I am trying to make everything due to a food allergies to corn for one of my kids. corn is like in everything! everything has corn syrup in it these days, so this is about it for us.

Almost a year ago I cut out most animal products and eat mostly whole grains, beans, fruits, and veggies......I feel amazing! It's hard at first, but it becomes a way of life.

I wish that I could go completely organic but it's too far above my budget to do so. I can't always buy organic meat and dairy, but in the spring and summer I maintain my own organic fruit and veggie garden.
