HI Everyone,

I just discovered CafeMom! What a great resource. I'm a children's specialist at a public library in Maryland and I've worked with families for over 20 years helping children find a book they will want to read.

It can be a challenge!  The books you love may NOT be what your child wants to read and when you look at those OTHER books on the shelves...and there are thousands of them these days... you wonder what are those books about and are they what I want my child to be reading!

To help you I've gathered 75 librarians across the country and we have created a website for you to use.  It's called ABookandAHug.  We read and recommend books... have over 7000 tiles there....all librarian approved!

Now, you're probably wondering how you're going to find the right book with all those choices.  So, here's the thing:  We've developed an asessment...ten questions you can have your child answer... and she or he will then discover a reading personality preference.  All books on ABookandaHug are tagged with a reading preference.

Here's the link to the assessment:  http://www.abookandahug.com/reader-assessment

Wise moms also have told me they use the assessment to learn more about their children.  It gives them new ways of understanding their children and helps them guide their children to become their best selves which is what we're all trying to do.  It does take a village, doesn't it?

We don't sell anything on abookandahug.  It's created simply as a resource for you.  Also, I host a cable tv show in Maryland where I interview authors and illustrators.  Here's a link to those...free to download and share in classrooms or families.  Young people often enjoy seeing their favorite authors and hearing them talk about their books and their own lives.

We would love to have you share your opinions of the books too!  We invite your children to share their opinions of the books they love or didn't love:)

So come and join us in the fantastic world of books for young readers.  We cover 0-16 years.

Welcome to ABookandAHug!
