Okay so over the past 2 yrs i have been a sahm with gabby. I have read to many horror stories of daycares going wrong and something happening because noone takes the time to know about masto well enuf to react quick. I however need to find a way to bring in some money because this isn't working so well with one income.
I feel the same way about daycare. I go to work after my husband gets home from work. I go in at 7 and work until 10 and I go in on either Sat. or Sun. It's not alot of hours but it gets me out of the house for a few hours and any extra money I make helps. I work in retail and they always need closers. I've also worked at the same store for almost 5 years so they let me be pretty flexible with my hours. I was going to put Bella in pre-school when she turned three and work while she was there but I just a son three weeks ago so I'll have to wait 3 more years until he's in pre-school, which works well for me because I like my part-time hours.
I got really blessed and found a job where I can take Max to work with me. I care for an elderly lady. I fix her breakfast and make sure she takes her medication and help out around the house. I work from 8am until around noon. It isn't a lot of money but I get to keep Max out of daycare. Maybe you could try looking into being a parttime caregiver to an elderly person. You have the qualifications from taking care of a masto child. PLUS the elderly LOVE kids!!
I completely understand. I am about to finish up my Medical Transcription course and will be working from home. That was the whole reason for me taking the course so that I can work from home. Just a suggestion. The schooling isn't cheap but you can get grants and even loans to pay out.
I hope that you find something that works for you and your family!
I am currently in college and have one year to complete it yet. I will then have my AS in arts and science with a minor in early childhood development. Don't see me lasting with no income for another year yet. I will have to see about a job with the elderly in my area, a few hours wouldn't be so bad
I have to say that I am scared of putting Isaiah in daycare, not to mention school. So far, I work part time while my mom (about the only other person I trust to take care of Isaiah) watches Isaiah for me. I work for a tutoring company, so my hours are flexible (which is good when Isaiah is ill). You really don't need a degree in education to tutor, you just need to know the basics. Things are tight financially, though.
As far as school - the district wants me to be with Isaiah all day because the new policy says that teachers are no longer allowed to give Epi pens and Isaiah would have to wait for the school nurse . . . if she is even on the property (they do not have full-time nurses here. Craziness, I know. Right now, he is receiving home bound therapy for speech and other developmental delays. I am trying to get him on home bound services after that (with a social outting on the side). Either that, or I will have to figure out a way to home school.
