Question about the dentist

Bella has a few cavities that need to be filled. The dentist doesn't want to fill them because of course lidocaine is on the list of things to avoid. She also doesn't want to use gas on her. I'm not sure what to do. Has anyone had experience with getting cavities filled and masto?

I feel so bad that I do not have any info. for you.  I will look into it, though.  Are you part of the mastokids group?  There is one lady in the group I know would be able to help you - she is a nurse who has systemic masto and has a lot of experience with mastocytosis.  She is quite knowledgeable.  I will see if I can get some information from her for you.

Hope everything is going well!

I was part of mastokids but when I try to log on it tells me I'm an inactive member. I use to check it once a day  so I'm not sure how I could be inactive. I was so upset because I really loved that group. Thank you for any info you might find out, I really appreciate it.

Tina Propes should be able to help you with your login issues - they have had problems with their website, but it is being upgraded right now.  Her e-mail address is tinapropes@yahoo.com.

I am still checking on the dentist thing for you.  Is it okay to post your concern on the MastoKids group message board?  I know that they will be able to help (especially Nancy).

If you could post my question on mastokids that would be great, meanwhile I'll email Tina and see if I can get back on there. Thank you so much.

Here's what I have found out so far:

From Nancy (the nurse - she's a great resource!)  =0):

"Kelly, almost everyone with mastocytosis tolerates Marcaine without preservative or epinephrine in it. Lidocaine is OK for many people also, but since Bella's mother certainly wouldn't want to take the chance of triggering a reaction, it's probably best to go with Marcaine, and use an extra dose of H1 antihistamine prior to the procedure. It'll probably be a piece of cake and everyone will relax for the second appt."

I am still waiting for an article from another mastomom, but figured I would go ahead and send you this reply.  =0)

Hope that helps!
Kelly
