Tagament?

Today we went to the doctor because Max is losing weight and itching pretty badly. The doctor put him back on the cromolyn and is watching to see what happens before he puts the feeding tube back in Max. I brought to his attention that Max has about 6 warts on his hand. He wasn't sure if it was a result of the Masto or just a fluke thing. He prescribed Tagament to help stop the growth and maybe make them go away. He doesn't want to put Max through the trauma of freezing them off. He said that the tagament makes the immune system a little wacky and can increase the immune system. He wasn't sure what it would do to Max but wrote the prescription anyway and told me to try and research it a little. This is our general peditrian because the specialists are about an hour away. Has anyone come across warts and/or tagament? Just wondering if we are looking at a major reaction. Thanks!

I have never heard of tagament but I hope Max feels better soon. Keep us updated.

My son was prescribed Tagament once when he was hospitalized for anaphylaxis - he seemed to do okay with it.  I know that there are some other mastokids on it, but I would have to ask around to see which ones and why Tagament as opposed to Zantac or something like that.  I would be careful of the preservatives/alcohol in it (if it's the liquid form), as some kids with masto react to certain preservatives/alcohol.  But if your little guy has been taking other meds without a problem, then I would think it would be okay.

I haven't heard of using Tagament for warts, but then I hadn't heard of using Doxepin to stop the itchiness of certain rashes either . . . that is, of course, until it was prescribed to us.  =0)

Hope it works for him!

As far as the itching - have you tried the MML (Magic Masto Lotion)?  It doesn't always work for Isaiah, but it at least helped keep his skin hydrated (and it did help a little).  We used a lot of cortisone creams and prescription steroids.  I can't say they work all the time, but they help.  Go figure.  =0)  Oatmeal baths helped too.  Plus, it gave my son another excuse to go swimming in the bathtub with a breakfast cereal.  =0)

Blessings,

Kelly

For some reason my Max likes to take a pill. He is 3 1/2 and swallows some pretty big pills. Max was doing pretty good for awhile and now he has relapsed. He is having his feeding tube put back in because he has lost weight and is malnourished. I am so frustrated!
