The crib that I had for my daughter and until now planned to use for my son has been recalled. Because of the chemicals, I really dont want to buy just any new crib. I looked into Amish and found some beautiful choices, but they are VERY expensive!! Does anybody know of cheaper amish furniture? Also, have any of you thought about skipping a crib all together and going to a toddler bed? It seems that wouldnt be very safe because they could get up and about in the middle of the night. hmmmm, maybe I could put a baby gate up in his room so he couldnt leave his room if I went with a toddler bed? I dont know. What do you ladies think??? Should I just splurge on the amish crib? Its about 1800 for the crib with the full size bed conversion kit and shipping. I kinda see that like buying him a reg. full sized bed, which still wouldnt be THAT much, but makes the price seem better.
Quoting Mrs.Bolin:
i bought my crib at Wal-mart, its a storkcraft brand and it converts into a toddler bed, then into a full size bed. It saves money. You might checks these out.
Thats the same brand we have, from walmart too! We likes it alot, especially because it converted like that. You should check and see if yours is on the recall list.
Here is a site you might check out they have lots of eco choices, big price range!

Leo slept in our bed with us until he was about 18 months and then I got a twin size mattress and stuck it on the floor part under his sister's bed like a "L" shape. He loved being close to her and I didn't worry about him rolling off. If he woke up at night, he just came and got into bed with us.
Hope any of this helps!
