I suggest you get one! OMG, they're so addicting! I own 2 of them (still waiting to get a Wii!)
There is a lot of great advantages to these fantastic units. First, they're reasonably priced, 129.00, then there is a feature called PictoChat, where if you know someone who has a DS, you can chat back and forth on it up to 30 ft. apart. You can play GameBoy Advance games on it as well. You can get a wireless router and play with other people over the Internet (still have to get one of them), and some of the games, like DiddyKong Racing, you need one card and can play with others as well.
One of the games I HIGHLY recommend for the DS is Nintendogs. This game rules! You have a selection of puppies to buy, and you train them, like a real dog. The puppies never grow up, nor do they die. The puppies respond only to your voice commands. You walk them, feed them, water them like a real dog. There are also contests for you to enter your dog in. You even bathe them and groom them. This is a very kid friendly game. And it is perfect for people like me who can't afford the real thing. No vet bills, and the perfect apartment dog! The dogs will even get mad at you if you don't pay attention to them for awhile, and if you don't bathe them for days, they get fleas!
So if you don't have one of these carry all units, GET ONE! I have the DS Lite, and they come in different colors. I have the Onyx and Pink. The games are reasonably priced as well.
Another game that is fun that was just released is Pokemon Diamond and Pearl versions. Another kid friendly (and adult too!) game. If you have never played Pokemon before (this is my first time too), you will have a blast! I have played this game once for 5 hours straight! Great fun!

I have a pink ds lite, i have gone through two others, the older versions because my children broke them, my hubby got me the lite for my bd =) i play animal crossing, final fantasy, contact is very good, mostly rpg games, but it is awsome, and i really want the wii also but they never have any in stock because as soon as the stores down here get stocked they run out of them the same day. I'm thinking maybe playing the wii i can loose a few pounds lol, very interactive game, my bro has it, and the PS3 and the new Xbox.
