Hey, my name is Erica. I have a 3 1/2 week old son, which means I get to play my games once or twice a week. I recently got Internet and I wanted to know if anyone can recommend a good PC on-line game that can be played with interruptions and doesn't require frequent play to advance in the game. Thanks.

I like role-playing games of all types, first person shooters but I'll try anything once.

I agree the sims 2 is awesome.  You can pause and save it and is very addicting.   Before I started playing xbox 360 that was my game of choice.

I love the Sims too!  It's a great game.  Real Arcade has a lot of kids games to choose from.  Roller Coaster Tycoon is good.

If you ever need a quick fix or distraction with an arcade-style game, check out OneMoreLevel.com. I love the puzzle games there. They also have twists on classics like Pac-Man and Mario Bros. If you're into text-based, multi-user roleplay, you could look into various MUXs, MUSHs, and MUDs.

My husband, a recovered WoW addict, says he's really been enjoying Guild Wars. He seems to be able to play that in short sittings and as an added benefit, there's no monthly subscription fee.

WoW isn't bad if you play it instead of it playing you. It can be addicting if you let it. I play that and FFXI. FFXI takes more time to advance though than WoW seeng as you have to go out and battle for your experience, whereas in WoW you can quest for experience also. Another benefit of WoW is when you are in the middle of a quest the quest log will tell you where you are in the quest for the most part whereas FFXI just gives you an overview of the quest itself.

Personally if you like RPGs I would recommend WoW or FFXI. It depends on the type of RPG that you like though. Are you looking for one that each quest builds upon each other before you can really go elsewhere or are you looking for a game that there is a lot to do no matter what? The first part is the downfall of FFXI which is why I barely play it. I like to be able to play casually if I want and not have to worry about okay I absolutely have to finish this quest before moving on to another. WoW has a lot more to offer to the casual RPG gamer. You do have to watch the time you play, but the website has parental controls that can be set to how long you know you want to play a day or if you allow your children to play how much they play. There is a cost difference between the two games, but there is also a huge difference with the cost. FFXI is 12.95 a month, but that is only for one character on one server. So, if you know people who play on different servers you are out of luck. Each additional character is a dollar. An advantage with FFXI and the characters is that you can have your character be any class in the game. There are some that you have to unlock, but the original classes you have to choose from can be picked up at any time. Make sure to hold onto your armor of those old classes though it can become expensive if you decide to go back to that class and don't. Trust me I have done that one, lol. Now with WoW it is 14.95 a month, but you can have ten characters on each server. Each character can only have one class though. Of course since there are ten characters that you can have and only nine classes, ten if you have the WotLK xpac, you can play every class. Personally I go between the two, but I spend most of my time on WoW. When I need a break from WoW I break open my FFXI account and start to play again. Both are great games, but like I said it depends on what you are looking for in the game.
