Handling the heat

Do your kids tolerate heat well?

My 5 year old daughter can't take the heat at all.  She is 5 and has had 2 OHS for AV canal defect. She still has an enlarged heart but is now otherwise ok.  She also has asthma and Down syndrome.  I don't know if the heat issue is due to asthma or heart.  I've asked the docs and they don't really know.   If the heat index is really high I don't take her out at all because even  a short walk to/from the car will zap her. Sometimes it even gets to where she throws up from the heat.  Those are extremes. For the most part, she'll just sit or lay on the ground if it's a little hot outside and won't play.  Just wondering if you had this experience?

I just got done posting that my son gets really hot and sweaty pretty quickly. His little face gets so red as well. The throwing up would really worry me but then again its only in extremes. Its a good idea esp. with the asthma to keep her inside and comfortable with this crazy heat.

I think in that instance, I think popsicles to keep her cool would be a good idea.  I have never had the issue, but when it is really bad, what kid doesn't enjoy a popsicle.
