my 25 month old was just dx with IHSS and ASD... will have to have OPS at some point, but we are going to do her hip reconstruction first... either way, i was wondering of those with either or both of these issues... anyone have any restrictions before or after surgery? and for any moms of CHD babies, are your babies getting disability? (i only ask because the case worker at our hospital mentioned it to me, and from reading into it, i don't think that my dd would qualify, however... if others with either/both IHSS and ASD do before and/or after their surgeries... i would follow up with it more....
just wondering, thanks!

I have already started the process of applying for SSI for my daughter that is 36 days old.  Our social worker had us apply when she was just a few days old.  I have already had our phone interview and that went really well. The SSI case worker stated that she is fairly certain that we would qualify and that the decision would most likely only take about a month rather than 3-5 months.  I urge you to get your application in before the end of this month.  Should you qualify your benefits will be back paid to the month of your application date.  The process may seem overwhelming but the worse they can say is "no".

Good luck!  I will keep your little one in my prayers.

My daughter qualified for SSI with her ToF and we received benefits until she was 8. Then, she had caught up! While she still has some physical limitations, she can participate with other kids her age and it was a blessing to not qualify! It meant she was "better". LOL The money was a huge help as I was a single mom for 4 years. Never hurts to check into it.

If she was preemie or diagnosed with a heart conditoion she qualifies on that level, now the other thing is your income if you make the threshold or more you dont qualify most is about $2000, in savings and then something different for income, but i still qualify for ssi, i get $756 monthly for that and recieve about $1995.00 in In home supportive services they let me keep both i was booted from state help though ebcuase i had an "income'' now to qualify for IHSS daughter should have medical/medicade or be recieving SSI. Get the paperwork and the questions will pretty much tekll you yeah or nay to every service

Goodluck

YES definetley apply NOW if its a yes you get backpay, if its a no well at least you tried.

and getting backpay in one lump sum is kind of a help. YOu can get any big stuff asap then you have a monthly payment to fall on too.

well, i don't work, but her dad makes about 40K a year, supporting me and 2 kids and himself. we do have money in savings, but that will be gone soon as a down payment on a home. both my girls were preemie, 4 weeks and 6 weeks early, not sure how that works though. i guess i'll call the "case worker" on monday and see what she has to say about it all.

I think you should qualify but they ask if you got rid of stuff in order to meet the threshold when you applied so get rid of it or move any valuables, both girls automatically qualify so apply and it shouldnt take too long.

good luck
