New Owner

Hi everyone!  My name is Donna and I'm the new owner of the group.  I'll give you a little background about me.  My dh and I have four daughters.  We adopted them from foster care.  They were 5,7,8 and 11 when they moved in with us in 2002.  Our oldest is now 18.  She has Borderline Personality Disorder and mild RAD.  Our second to oldest is 15.  She's been diagnosed with Bi Polar and ADHD.  We're also learning that she probably has a sensory/processing problem.   Our third to oldest seems to be doing ok.  Our youngest has ADHD too.  

I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you!  Please let me know if you have any suggestions for our group.  I'll try and get caught up with what's going on as soon as I can.

Could you tell me a little about how they diagnose a processing problem? My 13 yr son is bipolar and it drives me crazy trying to get him to understand things. It is his comprehension. He can read anything you give him, but can't tell you what it is about or he says he forgets. He is being tested to see if he needs and IEP.

i see you life is busy like mine. it takes special kinds of parents to raise these special kinds of children, but when its all over at the end of the day you feel tired and overwhelmed but its like a  stepping stone, you get a little stronger each time.

My name is Lucy and our family lives in Southeast Iowa. My 7 year old son was diagnosed with ADHD and ODD about a year ago.  He is a challenge to deal with when not on meds.  About the same time I was diagnosed with Hypertension... My nerves are pretty much shot, and I'm not even 30!  I am trying to keep him as scheduled as possible and give him things to do that challenge him a little but are still something he is capable of doing.  I hope everyday that I am doing the right things for him and someday he will tell me he appreciates everything I do for him.  This Tuesday, we're getting his meds reevaluated because he is in trouble almost everyday at school and doesn't listen at home.  I love him more than anything and I pray for tolerance to stay by my side.  Things can only get better, right?

Hi Donna, thanks for taking ownerships of us!. I'm Ellyn and I have 2 DS. My oldest is 15 and has ADHD, personality disorder and anti social disorder.  My youngest is 6 and has just been diagnosed with an impulse control disorder and ODD.  Everyday is an adventure!
