Hi there, I am a mom to 3.5 yr old triplet boys.  One of my boys has more of a severe apraxia, where the other two are more moderate.  Their SLP has now told us she has great concerns for stuttering.  I joined this group to vent and cry as I type.  My husband doesnt see what the problem is, and I am totally stressed out.  Thanks for listening....

Welcome.  My son is now 11, was diagnosed at 2 with severe Apraxia.  They had suspicions of a Stuttering disorder but because of the severe speech they weren't able to diagnose until age ten.  Now the stuttering is so much better they aren't sure if he ever had one.  Its a long road but believe me there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Welcome to the group.  I have 3 boys, ages 5, 2 & 1 but it's our 5yo with apraxia. He was diagnosed once he actually starting talking some around age 3.  He's doing SO much better now but really has a long way to go.

My husband is the EXACT same way.  You're definitely not alone.  He gets his reality check when other people ask DS to repeat himself.  He can't understand why "outsiders" don't understand him, lol.  Good Luck & we're here!

Hi merigoldx3, I too have a son that suffers from apraxia. He is 5 and is now in kindergarten. I thought that he would have to be placed in special ed, but nope he was placed in the same class room setting as the other children, and he is doing wonderful, getting 100% on spelling test, can almost read, and loves math, so as far as learning, children with apraxia does not seem to have a learning disability. I joined this group on facebook called Speech Nutrients, and was accepted into a study. I learned from some of the moms in the group that when their children were placed on OMEGA3-6-9 junior, their speech showed significant improvement. I started my son on the omegas, as well as my 2 year old that does not suffer from apraxia. Not only did my son's speech improve within a month or so, his little sister seemed to have become a little genius. There is hope so please do not fret... If you need more help I am here for you.

Hi Tamika,

Thank you for responding to my post.  Hearing that you child is doing so well in school brings me so much hope.  I have had my boys on ProEFA and PROEPA per cherub foundation, which is an organziation for apraxic children (not sure if you know this site or not) but have recently switched to another brand Liquid EFA.  The omega 3-6-9 that you used, what brand was it, what dosage were you giving him?  Its so nice to meet other moms here, as my friends dont get me, and why I worry.

Hope you have a great weekend,

Mary

I cannot find any omega supplements that my son will take. :( I've tried gummies, drink mixes, and the liquid. I want to see if it helps so bad!!

Hi.  My son is 5 and was diagnosed with verbal apraxia at 2.  He too began stuttering on and off about a year ago.  It comes and goes with severity and his speech therapist believes it is just part of his motor planning deficit.  I was wondering how your therapist is approaching the stutter? and if your son has improved?

my speech therapist is not directly treating it.

thanks
