Hi I'm trying to connect with other moms who have children with apraxia in my area! My son is 5 and hes coming along but i wanted to see and find more information! i have been spending my time researching things on apraxia. I also wanted to know if anyone knows about the omega 3 diet and if it has worked? I would also like to know and find about workshop or training in the new hampshire area,
Have you been to www.Apraxia-kids.org? They have some useful information and they do webinars. There is also info on how to do walks to raise awareness of apraxia.
I haven't tried Omega 3, yet. My son just had his developmental eval done yesterday. I asked the nurse practitioner about fish oil and she said you can buy this orange paste that you mix with food. It's not proven treatment for Apraxia but she said it is something all of our bodies can benefit from so it wouldn't hurt if we used it. Also, there are a lot of foods now that have Omega 3 in them, like milk and butter/margarine.
If your child has an SLP they should be able to let you know about workshops in your answer. I know my son's therapist has to do work shops to keep her license current. She is also is pretty good at passing info to me that she learns in workshops/training she attends.
Hope that helps! :o)
Thank you!!!! this does help! i have been spending alot of time researching things i just feel like there's so much more i can do. I didn't know i could set up walks for it! i have checked out the website but have not gotten to read everything. i work at night and i think it throws my son off a little bit more than it should. i want to find a way to be hoe at night but its hard especially where money comes into play. THANK YOU for your info. i have had him in speech since hes was 2 things have definitely progressed which is wonderful! but i still fell i could do more. thank you again!!!!
