Hi! My name is Ciera Nitkowski and I direct the Miss Heart of America Pageant. We are holding a Pageant in Orlando on May 2nd to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. Would you pass this information along to anyone you think might be interested? The pageant is a food drive and we are working very hard to make this food drive as successful as possible for Second Harvest. I am listing all of the pageant details below along with our press release. Any help you can give us in spreading the word would be greatly appreciated!

Pageant to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank!

(Orlando, Florida) The Miss Heart of America Pageant is helping stomp out hunger one county at a time! Did you know that, according to a report from the Food Research and Action Center over 12.2 percent of Florida Households are "food insecure"? Meaning these families do not have enough food to eat on a daily basis.

The Miss Heart of America Pageant has partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida to host the 1st Annual Orlando's Miss Heart of America Pageant on May 2nd, 2010 at the International Palms Resort in Orlando. The pageant will begin at 2pm and contestants are required to register online at www.missheartofamerica.com. Each contestant is required to bring in a minimum of 10 canned food items. All of the food collected will be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank. Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is a private, nonprofit organization that collects stores and distributes donated food to more than 500 partner agencies in six Central Florida counties: Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia.

The attire for this pageant is casual wear. There are 8 pageant divisions with a winner crowned in each division. A very special title called the "Queen of Hearts" will also be awarded. This title is awarded to the one contestant that collects and brings in the most canned food items to be donated the day of the pageant.

Pageant Divisions:

Baby Miss (Ages 0-23 months)

Tiny Miss (Ages 2-4 years)

Little Miss (Ages 5-7)

Petite Miss (Ages 8-10)

Junior Miss (Ages 11-13)

Teen Miss (Ages 14-16)

Miss (Ages 17-23)

Mrs (ages 24 and up)

Winners in each division will receive a rhinestone crown, monogrammed sash, prize package and entry fee paid to the 2011 Florida's Miss Heart of America Pageant.

The Miss Heart of America Pageant Program was developed to teach the importance of volunteer service at all ages while assisting our city, county, state and national queens in achieving their highest potential. In 2009 our program collected and donated over 10,000 non perishable food items to various nonprofit organizations in the state of Alabama. In 2010 nearly 5,000 non perishable food items have been collected and distributed to nonprofit organizations in Alabama and Florida. Help us help Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida!
