I currently live in NY and its getting harder and harder to afford living here. I dream of being able to watch my children grow up in a safe neighborhood like the one I grew up in, but its impossible these days. I have always been intrigued by TN and I'm looking for some feedback on what its like to live there. Where are good neighborhoods for children, good schools, cheap living, good jobs, etc. Thanks a bunch!

I live in east TN in the outskirts of Knoxville. Anderson County to be exact. People say my area is full of rednecks.. I don't know where they got that idea because I am not a redneck. My area seems alright. You'll find all the good jobs in Knox, usually in west area and downtown. The west is pricy living. The people say east is bad. I dont know about south of knox. North (where I'm nearby) isn't much.. just homes and commercial area.

I have a home in Winchester, TN (franklin county) -- it's inexpensive to live there. They have a good police department, low crime conpared to other places, the school system could be better... It's quiet and on the lake (Tim's Ford). 2500 sq ft home /1000 mo

I just moved from Columbia, TN (maury county). I loved it there. I had access to bigger city luxuries yet still had the small town feel. I would sit on our back porch and listen to the cricketts and the creek in our backyard, like in Winchester. We always had wildlife in our yard and I loved it. 4000 sq ft home 1500/mo

Now I am in Murfreesboro, tN (rutherford county)When I go sit on my screening in porch... all I hear is sirens and cars zooming past. BUT there are places where you can live away from the city to have quiet. It is like a wetland here... so you have to be careful where you build or live... research it. It cost more to live here than other places but less than Williamson County. 1250 sq ft apartment with garage/ 1200 mo. seigal and blackman are the good areas, IMO, now. I love north murfreesboro, all the activities for families and children that are here! I love my moms clubs and my church. It is a "quick" drive to nashville, franklin, winchester or just about anywhere because it is almost the center of middle tennessee.

I do not know much about east or west tennessee.... but I can expand even more on middle tennessee. I think ech of the 3 regions are very different....

on my way to gatlinburg(east TN) tomorrow.

You should pick cities of interest. WHat are you looking for-- what would you like to do?? and go to the city websites.
