some different sites that have been really helpful for me and others below. you can save so much money swapping instead of buying, and most sites for it are free.

  • Swap DVDs and Save TONS!!!

This is a sister site to Paperback Swap that I posted about last week (http://green-mom.blogspot.com/2009/05/paperback-swap-save-tons-on-books.html)

The rules are very similar. Sign up is free, after you post your first 10 dvds you have to swap they give you one dvd credit for FREE. After that you get more credits by swapping dvds. You pay to mail the dvds out (usually $1.90) but when you request a dvd that member pays to mail it out.

But here's something I wasn't aware of til recently that I took advantage of with SwapaDVD and an experience I wanted to share with you :)

My 2 year old got into his dvds and destroyed the majority of them. We don't have cable or dish and live rural so don't get much in the way of tv, this isn't a big deal since we also don't watch tv much, but I still want him to have age appropriate shows to watch when we do. When I posted about Paperback Swap another cafemomer let me know about the book bazaar, where you can get deals on books, so I looked to see if there is a dvd bazaar, there is!!! Not only did I get deals on dvds, but I got deals on credits also, which is great since we don't have many dvds to swap (the reason I hadn't really used SwapaDVD before this). I had 3 credits already that I had got one for free for posting ten dvds to swap, and two I had spent $1.90 each mailing out. I bought 10 more credits for $37.50 from a member that was selling them since he wouldn't use them. So total I spent $41.30. By using the DVD bazaar forum and searching and asking for deals I I got 33 age appropriate dvds for Tristian (plus 3 sports vhs movies thrown in one of the deals Dad was happy about)!!! Giving us more then enough to restock his collection of what he destroyed at less then $1.15 each!!!

The DVDs we got for Tristian are; Quest for Camelot, Scamper the Penguin, Stuart Little 2, Hoodwinked, Barnyard, Everyone's Hero, The Secret of NIHM, 3 Nick Jr DVDs, 1 Barney DVD, Penguins Whacked Out Holiday, 2 Rescue Heroes DVDs, All Dogs Go to Heaven 1 & 2, 6 Sesame Street DVDs, 2 Bob the Builder DVDs, 2 Veggie Tales DVDs, 3 Thomas the Tank Engine DVDs, 4 Baby Einstein DVDs.

I am absolutely estatic about this, even if we had shopped value bins getting this many new age appropriate dvds for Tristian would have cost hundreds. Anyways, I just wanted to pass this experience and awesome site along :)

  • Paperback Swap ~Save TONS on Books~

Lots new followers lately so repeating posts of favorite money saving sites :)

I signed up for paperback swap a couple months ago and have been absolutely thrilled about it! I waited til I'd used it for a bit before posting about it just in case, but I've got nothing to say but A++. PLUS on top of saving money you are recycling and reusing existing books instead of creating demand for new ones, double-score :) Also check out the book bazaar to get deals on books and save even more!

    How it works:

PaperBackSwap.com - Book Club to Swap, Trade & Exchange Books for Free.

You have books in good used condition that you do not want to keep.

After you have Posted the first 10 books to your bookshelf, you get 2 FREE "startup" credits from PBS to get you started swapping. After that, you earn credits by sending out books to others. Only the first account for a household receives startup credits. This means you get 2 FREE books just for posting your first 10 books to swap!!!

You may order any available book for 1 credit each (paperback/hardcover). audio books cost 2 credits each.

If you want a book that is not currently available, you can place it on your Wish List and we will notify you by email when it is available for you to order. You can even have it sent to you automatically when it becomes available, with no email necessary.

When a book is requested from you, we notify you by email, provide the address for you to send it out, and even provide a wrapper! You wrap and mail your book.

When the requestor receives it, you earn 1 credit (2 if it is an audio book). Yes, you pay the postage to send out your books, but when you request a book, the sender ships it to you free of charge! (postage is normally $2.38 for media mail)

The books you receive from PBS are yours. We hope that you will repost them to share with other members when you have read them, but you can certainly keep them, or give them away. Similarly, the books you send out to others belong to their new owners.

PBS is a great way to share books with people all over the country!

I have been so happy with this because I've used my credits to get books that I would normally have to resort to the used book store for and pay $5+ because it's hard to find specific books in the thrift stores, at garrage sales or even at the library. I've spent on average around $2.25 a book (I signed up when media mail was $2.23, it recently increased to $2.38) I've mailed out 9 books so far and recieved 9 in return already, with a couple still on the way. This has let me finish series for WAY cheaper then I would have otherwise. Plus it's keeping me from being quite as bad of a pack rat and clear out some of the books collecting dust on my bookshelves :)

It's FREE to join and like they noted above it's BETTER then free cause they GIVE you 2 FREE books after you post your first ten. They also guarentee that you will have at least one year FREE swapping service from the time you sign up, even if they do have to resort to a member fee to keep the site running (which I asked about and they said that wouldn't be ANYTIME soon if it happens ever).

So click here to check it out, and send me a friend request (my user name there is the same as everywhere else- KayMMIV)

  • There are several cashback and rebate sites out there but the three I've found that I like the set up of the best as far as ease of using and ease (and dependability) of getting paid are these: they are in close competition with each other so i use all three and check each for who has the better rebate for the store I'm shopping at, it changes from store to store, but I've saved HUNDREDS using these sites when I do shop online.

Cashbaq: You get $5 FREE just for siging up. Over 2,700 stores and services with cash back and thousands of coupons! You can choose to be paid either through a check in the mail or directly into your paypal account.

Mr. Rebates: You get $5 FREE just for siging up. They have thousands of stores and coupons to choose from! You can choose to be paid either through a check in the mail or directly into your paypal account.

  • Earn REAL Cash For Doing REAL Surveys FREE

I've tried multiple survey sites and most require you give out personal info, buy stuff or other pseudo scam. The only one I've found to date that's truly a FREE site you take REAL surveys and earn points (1 point = 1¢) redeemable for REAL cash is

I've been a member of the site for years and have never had an issue with redeeming the points for money or prizes. I actually just redeemed 5000 points for $50 a few weeks ago.
    Here's there about:

The MySurvey.com Consumer Panel is a group of consumers from all over the United States who influence future products and services by volunteering to participate in consumer research. Consumer research is discovering what people like you want and need by asking for opinions about products and services through surveys and product testing.

At MySurvey.com, consumer opinions count in a big way! Innovations inspired by consumer opinion research include air bags, antilock brakes, cash reward credit cards, and child-proof safety caps, to name a few. Another example of consumer research is the Conference Board Consumer Confidence Survey, conducted by MySurvey every month for more than 40 years. These results are regarded as a leading economic indicator and are routinely reported in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and The New York Times.

With the strong support of panel members such as yourself, we have developed the world’s largest consumer panel and are the premiere global provider of marketing information to major corporations worldwide.

Most months I earn at least 1000 points ($10) and many months I earn 2000 or more. For example this month so far I've earned 1295 points, which equals $12.95.

They have a strict privacy policy to protect us too. Here is their privacy pledge:

When you participate as a panel member, your privacy is assured.

We will not make any personal information of our panel members available to anyone without your knowledge (as described in the policy), except in the rare instances required by law. This includes your name, address, phone number, and email address.

We will never try to sell you anything - that is not our business. We will never sell your name to anyone else who might want to sell you anything.

Occasionally, we may contact you to validate responses. We will never misrepresent ourselves or what we are doing.

Your individual responses to surveys will also be kept confidential and will never be linked to your personal identifying information.

Your decisions about participating in a study, responding to specific questions, or discontinuing participation will be respected without question.

I just wanted to pass this site on since I know many Internet users look for these sites and get scammed. Since I know this one is real. Click here to visit/join.
