Basic Q&As About Our Sister Group Congo:

Q: What would our congo consist of?
A: Hopefully a large variety of kids, mama or diaper related products

Q: Would we have excess funds from the congo and what would happen to them?
A: The whole reason I want to start a congo is
because I would love to be able to do regular contests for our sister group members, but obviously don't have the funds to front the bill- this seems like a good way to raise those funds as a group in a situation that benefits everyone, the group members, the vendors and the buyers. plus the contests prizes themselves would be products bought from our congo (of course lol) so would be advertising for the vendors in that way.

Q: What kind of group contests are we talking about?
A: Fun ones with prizes! We would be doing a variety of contests, from picture contests, to lotto, to last poster and etc...

Q: Who can participate as a vendor, buyer, or contest entrant?
A: Anyone can buy! Anyone who wants to who's a member of the sister groups can participate, whatever you activity level in the group, many of you are more active then me right now :) Life is crazy and everyone understands that :)

Q: Why do I as a seller want to be a sister group congo vendor?
A:First for financial reasons. The vendor fee is cheaper then the monthly fee for your own hyenacart shop and you don't have to pay a startup fee. Second for advertising reasons, you get the added advertising from all other congo vendors, from the sister groups and sister blog which consists of several thousands of members and the benefit of the advertising done directly by the congo collaboration banner adds and etc... Your vendor fee includes advertising that you would otherwise have to pay for if you had your own solitary store. Third because this congo is not being run for a profit by the management. 100% of the fees you pay go to one of 3 things; to pay for the store, to pay for advertising, or to buy contest prizes directly from the congo vendors. This means 100% of the surplus after overhead of the congo comes directly back to the vendors in purchases.

The congo is set up and everything is paid in full right now, i did it so you can upload pics directly to hc. for congos that was an extra 12.50. so the total per month sans is $37.50 (the $10 setup fee I will ride with until we have things set up and going smoothly and have a surplus so as to keep the seller fee down for now) so for the first month I'm making the vendor fee $4.75. That way as long as we have 8 vendors we will break even on the basic costs of the store itself and anything extra will go into advertising this month.

Just pm me if you have any questions or ask in this thread.

about hyenacart congos

What is a congo?

A congo is a conglomerate of sellers, all stocking together in one store, usually at regular intervals (weekly, bi-monthly, etc.) The advantage of a congo is that customers can see a wide variety of items all in one place. Also, congos usually bring in more traffic than individual store stockings, so your listings will receive more traffic.

How can I join a congo or start my own?

Each congo has it's own guidelines on accepting new vendors. If you see one you'd like to join, it never hurts to ask if they are interested in your products. As far as starting your own, all you really need to do is ask around and see what interest there is in your idea.

What's the difference between an HC Standard store and a congo?

First of all, on the main store page of a congo, each seller's items appear beneath an individual store heading. In an HC Standard store, all items appear in one table, even if they are in different categories. A congo also includes "About me", "Policy" pages for each individual vendor as well as a vendor storefront and gallery.

Does Paypal go to one account or can it go directly to each congo member?

Each listing can have a different Paypal account associated with it, so Paypal can go directly to the seller.

How do congo accounts work?

Every member of a congo uses the same login ID but a different password. When each vendor logs into her account, she is able to manage her listings and account without being able to view or edit other congo members' information.

I am a congo admin. How do I add vendors and customize the look of our congo?

Log in to the vendor pages using your admin password. To add, delete, edit or reorder vendors, use the "Edit vendors" link. When first adding a vendor, you enter a password for them. The first time they log in, they will need to use their "Edit profile" link to enter a password. Also, if they enter their email and Paypal information, those fields will be automatically filled in for them when they create a new listing.

Congo graphics are set on both the "Edit vendors" page (store headings and store html) as well as the "Edit Profile" page (store header and footer code).

I'm a congo member and I can't log in. Who do I contact?

Contact your congo admin. She will be able to reset your password for you.

Where do I fill in the information for the "About Me", and "Policy" pages?

These pages are filled in by each individual vendor by logging in to her individual account and clicking "Edit Profile."

Can each congo store have it's own discount codes? What about the blacklist?

Discount codes, blacklists, and the image upload option are all congo-wide choices that apply to every member of the congo.

How can congo members be notified of Hyena Cart upgrades?

All members of the congos are invited to join the HC Blog where I post updates and new features for Hyena Cart.

if anyone has an issue with the exact stocking/payment date pm me and we can work something out, if there's no reason not to each sellers month can just be a month from the date you pay- as long as that's doable with hyenacart's set up I dont' see a reason not to allow that.

remember for this month even if you pay before the first your month is starting on the 1st, the store should be set up tomorrow though so you just get an extra couple days to stock this month :)
