This group is so quiet. What can I do as the group owner to liven things up around here. Please give me some ideas. Tina

Hi Tina!
I'm just new to cafemom, but am enjoying what I'm seeing!
I've homeschooled my 3 kids from k-12, with our youngest working on high school right now. She's 16, and I say high school, because she struggles with math - so she's working on gr. 10 level - and is gifted with English - and is working at a gr. 12+ level.
Like other mom's, I'm sure, I'd like to know what is working for you? Of course, high school is going to be the toughest years to get through - especially with hormones..... but we've been through almost every math curriculum out there, and are going to try Teaching Textbooks. Has anyone else tried them?
I have found that book Unit Studies are a great way to do English. My daughter loves to read, and if a movie has been made on that book... Well, it just gives her more ammunition for her unit study questions... She loves to compare the book vs. the movie, and write out how they could have done things differently, or give it praise.
She also loves Geography, and different languages.
How about a discussion on portfolios, or how you get your high schooler motivated to do physical activities when they're a book worm!?
Just some thoughts from Lonna!!
