Our Kitchen

Okay, trying really hard to keep my mind busy and not think of the embryos I don't have.  So today I started on the kitchen.  Here are some before and mid pictures.  Soon I will have the after ones.    Here's how it's going..

Neat!  Are you breaking the stone up yourself?  What do you put over it, the same stuff you would for tiles?  Do you seal it in the end?

Yes, I'm laying this just like I would tile. I've taken regular tiles and smashed them with a screw driver and a hammer.   I will set the pieces with mortar, grout and then seal it all with a grout sealer.  I'm using a non-sand grout too.  In these pictures the stones are not yet set and grouted.  It a two day process between the mortar and the grouting.  Both need about 8-10 hours to dry before you can do anything else with them.

Oh and if anyone else is thinking of trying this, don't forget you have to first lay the cement or backer board before you can lay any tile.
