Mine were ok. I was able to cook a Thanksgiving meal for 28 people without too much of a problem. My husband had to carry the turkey around for me, though. A 25lb turkey feels much heavier when it is frozen! I managed to try a few new recipes and they turned out well. Everyone got along, too, which is always a plus with my family. Christmas was at my mother's house, so I only had to bring a few sides and pies. On a sad note, our cat had a stroke as we were walking out the door to go to my mother's on Christmas. We got to an emergency vet within 10 minutes, but she never recovered and we had to put her to sleep the next day. We are sure that putting her to sleep was the right thing to do, and we had been expecting something like this to happen because she was 19 years old and in poor health. We just didn't expect it on Christmas. At least we were still home when it happened. If my sister didn't call asking me to bring something else to the party, we would have been gone all night by then.
Well, our holiday was pretty rocky. Em has been increasingly painful and we are waiting to see if the meds are going to work. The 14th, we found out my dad had cancer basically everywhere. He passed away on xmas eve. We had his funeral on Monday. Sooooo, not quite the holiday we were hoping for here.
We are really hoping 2010 is much, much better!
