with Plaquenil, is it normal to hurt like the devil if you miss ONE dose of the Plaquenil? I have missed a dose twice in the last 4 weeks, and OMG!! It takes about 2 days before all the pain goes away. And the Humira does not last anywhere close to two weeks! Tonight is dose #6. I will probably feel really good until about next Mon. So, about a week. If you have been on this combo, do you know if any of this is normal? It seems to me that the Plaquenil should not wear off that quickly! Doesn't it build up a bit in your system? I can tell if I am a few hours later than normal taking it. My script says to take it with food, and sometimes I forget to eat, or I fall asleep too early.....that's why I have missed a couple doses, because like I said, I can tell if I am later than normal taking the meds. I have an appt NEXT mon, so I would like to know if this is something I should be concerned with or not... Thanks in advance!
I'm not sure if anyone is taking both. I am only taking Humira and I can feel it when it is almost time to take a dose without even missing it. I don't know if it just needs to build up in my system or what, but it seemed like Enbrel lasted longer. But I think I said that about Humira when I switched to Enbrel, too. But at least here is a bump.
Yes I take HUmira and Plaquenil, along with a few others. Humira for over a year, and only recently it does seem like the pain and inflammation is worse for several days before the next Humira dose. The plaquinil they said, also, would take a few months to work well, and I have been on it for about ten months. Have not noticed if missing a dose of the plaq makes any difference. I don't even know if it;s helping. But I am quite sure the Humira and Methotrexate are working. And the prednisone always help, but I really ( I think we all) would like to avoid the steroids, dont want to be dependent on it, and trouble with trying to taper and stop it. This is no picnic ! However, I am so thankful there are meds that help, some of which were not around or being used for RA or PA several years agol Let us know how it goes....
Well, today he changed things around. Again. He took me off the plaquenil, and put me back on the metho. I'm not sure why, exactly. It worked earlier, at least it made me feel a lot better, and I haven't gotten MORE pain or anything since he switched the metho for the plaquenil. The only thing bad about the metho was that my liver enzymes were starting to get a little high, so he stopped that right away. I guess we'll have to see what happens this time around.
