I'm pretty sure there are several posters here that take it. You might want to search some of the older posts to read what others have said. It might be a little while before someone else answers. I have noticed that the group slows down a bit this time of year, probably because we are all sore from the weather!
i have been on methotrexate for about 3 years and it has help me the only thing wrong is that does make you loss some hair but not much. i started on 4 at a time than he increased it to 6. i have heard that some people takes up to 12 at a time
I had an appt today, and my doc took me off Plaquenil, and put me back on the metho. I was on it back in the spring, and it made me feel so much better! I was taken off because my liver enzymes started going up. They went down, and he is going to try it again, so we will see how it goes. That is the only side effect that I had from the metho. It worked wonders with me!
I have been on MTX for almost six months. Started on oral pills once a week, got a lot of nausea, but it was helped somewhat by being careful what and how much I ate on those days. Also folate every day and more on the two days before MTX. Then, as the dose increased closer to 20 mg, he switched me to injecting it once a week. I did not lose any hair that I noticed. Get some side effects but not too bad. The main thing is that it definitely helps, although in combination with Humira, Plaquenil, that I had been taking. I was in major daily pain before the MTX started to work. Also was taking narcotics. Too much stuff. Anyway, I have been in bad enough shape that although I hate methotrexate, I was determined to make it work, if at all possible, Still on steroids since about June, only 5mg pred, now, but would love to stop finally. Hope you do well !

Thank you. I'm slowly increasing to five pills a week and weaning off of prednisone. I feel pretty good, so I'm just wondering now what? Meds forever? Go back to doc on 12/19 so we' ll see how it's going then.
Exactly my thoughts.. lol. ?? Meds forever ??? ! I just hope for a remission of some sort. Meantime, I am glad I have back up NSAIDS and a pain med for bad days. The bad days are a lot less on all of this stuff, but I am just sick of so many pills and now two meds by a shot. I hated the idea of injecting the metho subcutaneous, but, it has a lot less side effects than by mouth.
