That is really weird, and would make me worry myself sick!   I KNOW the metho works on me.  When I started it, I could see and feel a huge difference from one week to the next!  The only side effect that I had (which I am not even positive I had to begin with!) was the liver enzymes... And what really got me wondering was that I stopped the Humira (cold thing) and he said the metho wasn't working??  I'm keeping the prednisone at 3 a day, in theory, because I sometimes forget them at night, so will take 2 in the am.  I don't know.  I would really like to get a new rheumy, but with my "insurance", I'm not sure if I can!  As much as I hate pain, and don't want this disease, I almost hope that I am so much worse when I go back next month, that he puts me back on the meds that I know will work!

And I will def keep an eye out for the lumps!

If you are sure or pretty sure the metho is helping, you should probably try telling him that, I know now that metho is helping definitely, since no Humira for a few months.   Usually I have no idea, but if I tell the rheumy that I think that probably some med is or not working, he tends to give it some thought and kind of let me take or not take it.  But I have known this doc about 8 months, and it takes a while I think, for them to get to know us, etc.  ALso, I think the prednisone they usually tell me to take in the morning.. so maybe check with your pharmacist ?

Well, good luck and best wishes to you and everyone here, wishing less pain and more comfort !

I would really get a new doctor. Regular lab tests are really important and he should be looking at those before deciding what isn't working. I am on my 4th rheumy and I lost count of the other internists and specialists I stopped going to. Call your insurance company!

Anyone ever get any lumps anywhere, while taking MTX ?  I dont know if I posted here, but I developed a weird lump/bump on my tongue, finally  had oral surgery in January, and have no idea, but... wondered if it was related to the MTX, the pt info sheet, says you may get lumps and bumps and to stop taking it.. I did stop for a month, however, recently such bad inflammation, started again last week .

Am I the only one who takes the methotrexate by a sc injection ??

Anyway, then I found that the lesion might possibly be related to the Humira type drugs..  can't win, it seems.  If anyone is interested, the path report was  "pyogenic granuloma" which I never heard of.  (was about the size of small pea)

I have had lumps on the roof of my mouth that my dentist couldn't figure out. It turned out that every time I drank beer I would snore, and that dried out my mouth, and that blocked pores in my mouth. My dentist wanted to have the lumps removed until I figured it out. It took months for them to go away and then the new seasonal ales would come out and the lumps would come back.

I've been on it for almost 6 months and after he upped my dosage to 4 pills from 3, I started vomiting in the 2-3 days following taking it. I hate it. BUT it does make me feel better. So it's a win/lose situation for me. I hope it is working for you.

Hi sillymoo, thanks for the info !  It's interesting the connection with the dry mouth and snoring.. I'm glad you did not have the lumps removed.  Don't remember, are you taking methotrex..?  I should look into treatment for snoring since I have it even without beer or wine (in the family, too)...   Also was avoiding beer, thinking it made pain worse, but.. probably did not.  Certain red wines (yes i know its a no no..  I am sometimes bad)  . seem to be worse, like a pinot noir, so I avoid those kinds.

Now the oral surgen wants me back for a checkup.. ummmm..  oh no..  he will find a small lump which he already did, and want to take it out..  Geesh.    Thanks again !

WHen I took the pills I was sick a lot, sometimes really bad..  The folate helps, do you take folate ?  He has me on one /day, except for 3/day for two days before the methotrex (even with the shot).  It definitely helps but took a few months even after the dose was max, for it to work a lot.  I think the max for me was 20 mg, that's actually about 8 pills (2.5 mg each, they are all the same mg, ).  Also, I found that eating only small bland meals for the day or two helped a lot to decrease the nausea and vom., with the metho. pills.  HOpe you are doing okay.

Yeah. I'm on Folic Acid which doesn't help with the nausea and vomiting. I had him reduce me to 3/wk. It helps a little and he also put me on zofran for it. One the day of and one the day after. Takes care of it for the most part.

I'm the type of girl who can only be defined as different, complicated, and unique.

Some beers make me feel a lot worse after just one beer. Some do not affect me at all. Of course, I never know which until I drink it. Red wine never really bothered me. I'm on Enbrel right now. My doctor wanted to put me on metho but I decided against it. Enbrel is working pretty well for me right now. And you are welcome!
