Introduction: Fibro sufferer

 My father had roaming rheumatoid arthritis.  I have fibromyalgia myself and so does my brother...  I was wondering what kind of symptoms to watch for if i would develop the arthritis too.  Is it genetic...   You can Call me Charity.  I am married with blended family...all children grown and deal with quite a number of disorders...Love to meet some of you....

Welcome to the group. Different people have different symptoms, but typically, RA sufferers have hot, swollen and/or discolored joints. I forgot the medical term for this next one, but usually you have pain in both wrists and not just one, or both feet, etc. Symptoms of RA and fibromyalgia can overlap, too. I know we both suffer from extreme fatigue, for one.

Don’t blame it with genetics solely but the kind of lifestyle each one of you are maintain. Study shows that people who are not taking care of themselves such as staying fit and healthy is prone od developing health disease and as to developing arthritis, it depends. Usually arthritis once a person joints are inflamed and most causes of inflammation of the joint is when a person is already overweight. See DePuy
