Try looking in yahoo groups for a group in your area. Also I found a great group on meetup.com.

I was also going to suggest Meetup.com.  I found a great parents group on Meetup, and I've since thought about starting a homeschooling group on there.

It costs money to start a group, and some folks charge their members as a way to pay the meetup charges, but it's very minimal.

One group I'm in on meetup is a free group, and the other charges each family $10/year. But we use the extra dues fees for art supplies, ect...

I live in Aroda, VA.  I am not sure how close that is to you.  I found a homeschool group at one yahoo groups.  I belong to one in Orange county and one in Albermarle county.  They have more park dates than I can possibly go to and are always advertising groups and classes.  I signed mine up for a dance class and found some homeschoolers there.  I also take them to an art class in Crozet where they get to play with children afterwards.  I found the classes I sign them up for have been great for them to meet other homeschoolers.  I would sign up for some yahoo groups near you and see what they have to offer.  I am pretty sure there are some near you.  I don't know if you ever go to Charlottesville but they have like 3 or 4 different park day during the year that happen each week.
