Anyone Used Story of the World?

Has anyone used The Story of the World by Susan Bauer to teach history? I can't get my hands on it to actually look inside. Can someone give a general grade level for Vol 1?

Also, do the volumes increase in difficulty?

Thanks!!

In the how to use section of the activity book it says,

"The Story of the World series is intended for children in grades 1-4, but is often used by older students: Volume One is written primarily for grades 1-4; Volume Two for grades 2-5; Volume Three for grades 3-6; Volume Four for grades 4-8.  The maps and many activities in this book are also appropriate for children in grades 4-8."

check your library. We just checked it out we will probably use some of it, our kids are 12, 11 and 7 and I think I can make it work for all of them with no problem. good luck

We used volume 1 this year for my 4th grader and it worked just fine. I made up worksheets with the questions rather than doing them orally and we used the test forms as well. He really enjoyed it and wants to do volume 2 next year.

I have it and we are going to start using it next year when my oldest is in second grade and my middle child is in first.  When I bought it last summer I was thumbing through it and my son (who was 4 at the time) begged me to read some of it to him.  He was so interested in it that he keeps talking about how excited he is to start history.  I don't have the activity guide yet, but from what I've read about the projects, it sounds like it really makes the lessons come alive.

I use it now with my 7 and 6 yr olds.  I recommend getting the workbook to go with it.

Barnes and Noble has it if you want to look at it. I was looking at it this week. I really like that everything is told in story form...

The series is written for younger elementary (grammar stage if you're homeschooling classically), but older kids can use it as a spine with supplements.

We use it with both kids = our youngest is 7 and our oldest is almost 10.
