Andy is getting bored with his workbooks & it was suggested to me that we try using the computer for hsing if we won't put him into ps. I know about Starfall & Time4learning but was wondering if there's a program similar to these (fun, engaging, etc.) that encompasses all subjects or are they mainly just for reading & math? It's not open enrollment for programs like K12 & I feel that some of those may not be stimulating enough right now for him.
His therapist is also leaning towards a diagnosis of ADHD/anxiety so I'm trying to find ways to keep him interested in learning while I learn how to help him cope with day-to-day stuff. If anyone has any web site suggestions I'll gladly read them. I've been around kids with ADHD but not for long. Thanks!
I dont have any answers but I wanted to say that we do k12 and it keeps the attention of my kindergartner pretty much minus the phonics but only because she has caught onto phonics pretty fast so we kinda skip alot of the reviews. You can work at your own pace still wtih k12 and advance to upper grade levels as well. She is doing 1st grade math right now and is 20 percent away from getting 1st grade phonics and LA. I dont have experience in the public schools with my own kids but from what Im heard, the k12 curriculum is more advanced then public school and from what another mom who has had her kids in public K are telling me, it is. Just something to think about for next year.
My ADHD son likes http://theheadoftheclass.com/ They have everything even art and music but I supplement for Literature, Science, and History by getting books from the library and based on the lessons from http://www.lessonpathways.com/ The ones on Head of the class are too brief.
I'm not too sure about fun and engaging...there are mixed reviews but depending on his age they Alpha Omega Publications has SOS and monarch that are online. IDK if that helps or not.
