Hi! I know the phonic question has been asked many times but I really need some help here. I'm looking for a program that will help teach phonics that will lead to my son reading. He is a stubborn learner and he would not do good trying to remember all the rules that some phonic programs have. I'm looking for something that just teaches the sounds of the letters without all the rules. (Such as B sounds like this B as in boy). I went to homeschoolreviews.com and I'm still have a hard time.
I hope this makes sense. Any help would be great! Thanks!!
I am using Loony tunes Phonics on the computer.. NO Bashing please.. My son loves it and it makes learning to read fun!

First of all welcome to the group! Thankfully you are very unlikely to get bashed around here ( unlike so many groups on CM). The greatest part of HSing is that we are free to do whatever works for our kids and the women in this group get that. I am glad you mentioned the looney tunes phonics...I am off to google because I think my middle DS may like that.
To the OP: We have used hooked on phonics in the past but it is pretty boring. We plan on using All About Reading this year for my 4 year old. You might also check out letteroftheweek.com and starfall.com.
Explode the Code, Bob Books and Phonics Pathways are great!

I adore McRuffy, we are using it for my 1st grader and 2nd grader. I love how they incorporate spelling into handwriting and such.
I'm using hooked on phonics. My oldest two kids love this program. THey always ask to do it. I do have Dora Phonics but we haven't tried it yet.
See if your library has "Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons". My son is reading a grade level ahead thanks to that book, and it's the only thing I used for reading.
