Hi. I am going to be teaching an Intro. to the Scientific Method Class to 1-3 graders next month.

The idea is that we will have a disscussion about whatever science principles we will be learning about and then conduct an experiment.

So I need ideas for experiments that give more immediate results and are simple enough for the kids to understand.

I'd love to hear any suggestion you might have.

Thank you!

1 mom liked this

The vinegar and baking soda to blow up a balloon. Has to do with gases that are created.

There is the one where you put water in one balloon and just blow up the other and put each of them over a flame.  The one with water takes long to pop (if you wait that long, we never do). Because the water absorbs the heat.

There is the solar ovens.  They can make hot dogs or melt crayons.

I will have to think some more, but those are a few.  I did not explain them all great, but you can get an idea.

Here is a pretty cool experiment.  We just did it and it really worked and was kinda fun.  My daughter, 11, loved it.  She really loved the end when I popped it.  LOL
