As of last week Friday we welcomed a new member to our family, he is a purebred German rottie who is 8 weeks yesterday. He is the brother of our belated Big Boy. He is bigger and the complete opposite of him, he's a little aggressive I think. He really likes to bite our feet when were watching tv or walking around in our house. He also likes to growl at my daughters chichuahua when he's around his food or just simply walking around. I really don't want a dog that I'm going to always wonder if he'll bite or hurt someone when he gets bigger. So any advice on how to get him to stop this behavior? Is it just "puppy behavior" or something more? thanks a lot ladies.

that would be unacceptable behavior for me. i follow Cesar Millan, the dog whisper's tactics. you need to let him know you and every human in your family are the alpha. i am not sure how to curb that behavior but you need to stop it now. rotties are so smart that usually they know after a couple times of discliping what not to do. check out the dog whisperer.

My rottie was food aggressive ONCE with me. She got a hold of a bone from a cow that I did not want her to have and when I went to grab it she growled and tried to bite my hand (she was about 16 weeks old at that time) I immediately grabbed her collar and through her to the ground and did a deep voice in her face and yelled NO very sternly. I then let her go back to the bone and I grabbed it and that time she got up and backed away from me. Then on she has NEVER shown any food aggression and she is 4.5 now. When he bites at your feet (who ever it is) clap your hands REALLY loud and and say OUCH, usually at that age it startles them. They just need to learn that that is too rough and unexceptable. That is mostly puppy behavior but it needs to stop and he is at the age where it can be reversed and he will learn quicky that that is unacceptable! Also once he has his puppy shots get him into a puppy obedience class and they can help you work with him and socialize him. Good luck!
