okay first I should say I am asking a question to find out more about these vacs b/c when I search the web, most parents seemed to fight one another because they did not like what the other was saying. And for me I just would like to know what other parents may or know about the vacs. If you see this post, I am just asking around in other groups.
I am prego and I have two other children. I will discuss w/my ob gyn about them when it comes for me but as for my kids, I am not sure about it all. First when I was in the military I had to take the flu shot w/out a choice but for my son at the time, they told me he did not need one b/c he was a little younger than 4. Now he is 10. Now it seems that docs are pushing parents to get these shots. I am uncertain about them. When I took the flu shot, I still got sick and just as worse than others but I found it never helpful. I have heard others say the same thing. I do understand that you can get sick very badly but from what I understand the flu shot does not carry all strains, just the ones that the gov't may think you might encounter. I would like to know does it really help or is it just in case factor and what are the pros and cons of the flu vac?
As for the H1N1, has anyone heard info on this vac? I am not sure about this one the most!! I say that b/c when the whole swine flue happen, people was like goin all crazy and all. And yet the gov't stated they have no measure against it. Then all of sudden, now our gov't has a vac or it (which I find that too short of a time frame). I mean usually they would test to see the long effects before giving it to the public and now they are pushing it to the public too. I find that crazy and not so welcoming either. Then I heard on the news that they said most people who do get the swine flu, they can take care of it themselves by staying home getting rest and drinking water and of course wash your hands. I don't know....it is very confusing for me. I know my girlfriend is not giving her kids any of the vacs because she is not sure about either and the long term effects. I just want to be more informed and yes I will talk to a doc but sometimes I feel it the CDC said it is okay most docs will just go with it even thought there is not alot of info on the long term treatment. I know they mean well but I feel they go into it blindly when it comes to vacs like these but that is just my opinion. No matter what I am open to your info. I just would like to know more about these vacs before I decide to inject my kids body with this stuff!
thank you!

I vaccinate so I would think it's better to be safe than sorry. All my kids have had the flu shot. The H1N1 has only been given to my 8 year old at school. He has autism and fell into the high risk category. And now they have stopped giving it. But are talking about next fall.
Both of my girls received the H1N1 vaccine and they did just fine. I too vaccinate because of the better safe than sorry attitude. My 11 month old is a special needs baby and for her to get the flu of any kind would not be good. She aspirates and if she was to get sick this would cause all sorts of problems of many kinds.
IMO, if you're uncertain about something, there's a good reason. It's best to wait and read more - from both sides.
I too was very leary of the fact that they came out with the vaccine for H1N1 so quickly. I don't understand how drugs have to go through YEARS of testing, but a vaccine can be approved in mere months.
Personally, I don't vaccinate. And I'm a very well-educated person, with a degree that required a lot of research and a science background. I'm confident in my decision. I won't tell you what your decision should be, but make sure you're confident in it.
Here is a website - from a doctor who has done more than 8000 hours of research on the subject. I got some great info from her.
