I don't trust any doc who encourages you not to breastfeed -- he's less than a year! The only thing I can think is to keep him propped up for a while after he eats, elevate the ead of his crib, etc, but my son would spit up all the time, no matter what he ate, and even sitting him up for a while afterwards only did so much. I seriously wish i would have invested in my carpet steam cleaner back then!
i was actually going to ask hubs today if we could get a steamer lol i dont think theres an inch of carpet he hasent trown up on :/

Many, many babies have reflux. My girlfriends 9 month old son spits up all day everyday. His clothing and house constantly smell like spit up. It's just the way some kids are.
Your son is definitely too young for cows milk. That is not recommended until 12 months, and even that is an early age to start. Some babies start on goats milk as it is easier to digest.
From the World Health Organization (the experts here): Exclusive breastfeeding is recommended up to 6 months of age, with continued breastfeeding along with appropriate complementary foods up to two years of age or beyond.
Two years! There is NO reason why you should quit breastfeeding your son. Breastmilk is the best thing you can do for him his first year of life. It IS possible that something in YOUR diet is irritating him, and the way to find that out is to start eliminating possible causes of acid indigestion/reflux. You can google around for ideas on how to do that.
As for your daugher, it honestly sounds to me like your doctor just is not doing a very thorough job. Some doctors are great, others are...busy. I would be getting second opinions on these issues.
